I'll just get this out of the way now so I don't muddy up my LR on the T-Rats tonight but I find it very weird that Peoria is now the STL affiliate instead of the Cubs. The Cubs are now Kane County who used to be the Royals... and so on. I'm sure by mid season I'll be used to it but right now it doesn't seem right.

If it helps, you can still hate them both.

Pure wisdom.

It looks like, at least below AA, there isn't an obvious link to the game log, just the box score.

Here's the Brevard box score link from the beginning of the thread:

http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=t503&t=g_box&gid=2013_04_04_breafa_dbcafa_1

By changing the word "box" to the word "log" in that address, you get the game log:

http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=t503&t=g_log&gid=2013_04_04_breafa_dbcafa_1

Hopefully MiLB makes that minor adjustment soon.

My absolute favorite thing about the opening few games is seeing how the lineups are being constructed. That T-Rats lineup is stacked. Michael Reed hitting 9th sort of supports that. Tyrone Taylor, Orlando Arcia and Clint Coulter having very nice debuts so far. Saaweeeeet! If that pitching staff can do anything, we are probably looking at back-to-back championships.

The Cubs are really trying to run on Cam Garfield. Garfield nabbed Soler once at 2nd and Bradley picked Soler off once too. Bradley appeared to settle down a bit, but Chad Pierce couldn't make it through his 2nd inning.

Thornburg is dealing and Hunter Morris smacked a 2B, of course.

At least Gameday is working great for the T-Rat game.

Strong is single handedly throwing this game away, he's thrown balls away down each baseline in consecutive innings, his error last inning cost the T-Rats 3 runs (1 ER). McFarland just made a nice pick to hold the runner at 3rd, hopefully the Rattlers can get out of the inning without another error costing more damage.

edit. Ha-ha woot... 6-4-3 double play... out of the 8th unscathed, tie game to the 9th.

Am I a bad fan for not caring because of the following?

Tyrone Taylor: 2-4, BB

Orlando Arcia: 2-4, 2B (CS, but whatever he's 18)

Clint Coulter: 1-2, 2 BB

Bradley picking up right where he left off last year.

Guess I dont understand this comment to much. 3H and 3BB's in 4IP isn't idea by any means but I think it was an encouraging first outing compared to last year. Limited it to two runs and had 4 k's no WP's or Hit batters. A 4 to 3 GO-FO ratio. I'm not jumping for joy but not taking in negitive. It's a start.

Nashville-Thornburg.....Stud.......Hunter Morris......Stud

Top of T-Rats order..... all I can really do is just :) with joy! This young line-up has me as excited as I have been in a long time. So use to every year Brewers loading up A team with all these older college guys where everyone just says "yeah he's playing great but he's too old for league" we finally have sub 20 year old prospects in A ball!

Proud member since 2003 (geez ha I was 14 then)

Final: Brevard County 4, Daytona 3

The Manatees got off on the right foot, scoring a run in the top of the first inning. Chadwin Stang started things off with a one out infield single. Nick Ramirez followed with a hit-and-run single to move Stang to third. With two outs, Cody Hawn notched the first RBI of the season for the 'Tees, scoring Stang from third.

The Cubs got two runs in their half of the first, as Jed Bradley struggled early on. Zeke DeVoss singled, and Tim Saunders followed with a double to knock in DeVoss. After Saunders stole third base, Javier Baez hit a long sacrifice fly to center to score him.

The Manatees tied up the game at 2-2 in the third inning when Hawn doubled in Stang, who was hit by a pitch to start the inning.

Daytona took the lead back in the sixth, getting a run off of Chad Pierce, who was on in relief of Bradley. A double, a walk, a wild pitch and an infield single got Pierce in to trouble, but Eric Marzec came on with one out and induced a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning.

Brevard answered right back with a pair of runs in the seventh to take a 4-3 lead. Nick Ramirez drew a one out walk and scored on Hawn's second double of the evening. Greg Hopkins then singled to score Hawn and give the Manatees the lead.

Marzec and Seth Harvey shut down Daytona over the final 3.2 innings to preserve the victory. Marzec earned his first win of the season and Harvey recorded his first save.

Brevard County Box Score

Jed Bradley struggled early but then settled down. He only went four innings in his first outing of the season, but retired the final seven batters he faced, with four strikeouts. His final line was 4 IP, 2 R, 2ER, 3H, 3BB, 4K. Chad Pierce went 1.1 innings in relief, allowing one run while striking out three. Eric Marzec pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief and Seth Harvey had a 1-2-3 ninth for the save.

Cody Hawn was the hitting star for BC. He went 3-5 with two doubles and three RBI. Greg Hopkins picked up where he left off last season with a 2-4 night. John Dishon was 2-4 with a triple. Chadwin Stang was on base three times. He had two infield singles and was hit by a pitch. He also stole a pair of bases. Lance Roenicke, Nick Ramirez and Cameron Garfield each added a single. As Noche mentioned earlier, the Cubs were running a lot early in the game against Garfield, going 4 for 4 in stolen base attempts (milb.com lists a CS for him but it was actually just a straight 1-3-6 pickoff).

Cody Hawn doubles (2) on a line drive to right fielder Jorge Soler. Nick Ramirez scores.

Pitching Change: Eduardo Figueroa replaces Sheldon McDonald.

With Gregory Hopkins batting, wild pitch by Eduardo Figueroa, Cody Hawn to 3rd.

Gregory Hopkins singles on a ground ball to center fielder Zeke DeVoss. Cody Hawn scores.

Yadiel Rivera pops out to shortstop Javier Baez.

Totally agree. Why even write that post if not just to be negative about Bradley and that [sarcasm]moron[/sarcasm] Bruce Seid?

All the nice performances so far tonight, but all you can muster is a cheap shot at Bradley? Whatever.

Hunter Morris with a strong Nashville debut so far: 2-4, 2B, HR, 4 RBI.

Really confused as to why Thornburg was lifted from the game after just 70 pitches (esp. since he was dominant).

Was pinch hit for in the 6th.

I didn't like it either.

Hey, they are going to 11 in Wisconsin. Extra AB for Taylor and Arcia!

Bradley picking up right where he left off last year.

In trwi7's defense, it was a pretty rough start to the night for Bradley. He settled down nicely after the first inning plus, but I was listening to the game, and I'll admit I thought it was gonna get ugly as well. He retired the last 7 batters he faced, striking out four, including Cubs top prospect Javier Baez on a big curveball, so there were definitely some positives. Looking forward to his next few starts as he gets stretched out and can go longer in to games.

That's a pretty ugly managerial decision. Managing for wins & losses in the minors with the best pitching prospect you have on your roster out there just dealing? Indefensible for me.

The only defense is that Thornburg might not have been fully stretched out. But I agree, especially for a guy who needs more experience with 100-110 pitches so that he can hold that velocity deep into games.

He was actually pinch-hit for in the 5th. With two outs. And no one on base.

Even if Thornburg wasn't fully stretched out... 70 pitches? I have to assume he was prepared to go at least another inning. You nailed it -- he needs to work on maintaining his stuff deep into games if he's to translate as a SP in the bigs. I'll just leave it by saying that, if the Brewers had a 75-ish pitch limit on him after having all of ST to build up his arm, I'm a little disappointed.

Yeah sorry. Pinch hit for in the bottom of the 5th. I was watching, but didn't care until the 6th since the Sounds had nothing going on.

We'll see what happens. Him not being stretched out all the way would put him at 85, then 100 during his next 2 starts.

Oh -- didn't mean that as a dig at you at all. Just that I couldn't believe that he was removed when he was.

This has to be TT not being stretched out. I can't rationalize it any other way. Odd.

Jeff Hem's response on whether or not Thornburg was held to a conservative pitch count:

Yes he was. Standard early-season limit.

Sounds like Rams's guess of 70 -> 85 -> 100 is what we should be looking for, heading forward.
