2001 Bobbles

parkside21

Hey all, I'm sort of new to the whole bobblehead craze, so some of the older bobbles I'm not too familiar with. I have a guy that is trying to sell me both the 2001 Yount and the 2001 Jenkins....here are pictures of them both...I'm pretty sure the Yount one is the SGA, but I'm afraid the Jenkins one looks like a retail one...is there any way to tell from these pictures if they are legit? Also, what's a fair price for them? I checked out Billyhallfan's page, but I'm wondering if these boxes give anything away, since they don't resemble the current bobblehead boxes.

Any help? obviously a quick response would be best....

That's about what I figured....I figured the Yount one is...but on billyhall's page it says Piggly Wiggly instead of Geoff Jenkins' name...and this one says Jenkins...so I guess that's where I was confused....

During the first year (or two?) of bobblehead giveaways the brewers sold the same bobbles via the mail and later at the fanzone. Thats where the differences come in. The SGA Jenkins is the one that says "Piggly Wiggly" the "Jenkins" one is the retail version of the same bobble.

I don't know how it affects the price, but I suspect that there are some people that will pay a premium for the SGA.

Actually thats true then. Those would both be the retail ones they sold in the store. The packaging is different for the SGA ones. I don't think either are much different in price though. The SGA ones come in white boxes without the windows. I think they also list the players names on the side kind of like a check list. Sorry for the confusion.

20fry is right, but most people don't even know the difference, and the price is relativly similar if I recall right, there is also a difference between the Aarons, but I still can't figure that one out.

but obviously anyone that gets the Pepsi 3 packs of bobbles is all retail, a boardmember that knows a whole lot more than me about this is "bobblefever" I'm sure he'll post and tell us all what is what.

well i have the jenks that says piggly wiggly on the front but it came with the window box. maybe someone mis packaged it.

I've seen the same thing. One of the cards store around here also used to have both 2001 versions in the same Window box. And, for what it's worth, they were both $35.

Those are both retails. I think Pepsi did a mail-in promotion first with them in that package and then they were retailed at the Fanzone. You can get them at most card shops. My buddy bought a three pack of the 2001 bobbles for $50 at the Fanzone about two years ago.

The SGA's came in White boxes with no windows. And don't have their names on the front of the bases. Jenkins says Piggly Wiggly. Younts says Pick'N'Save. And I don't know what the difference in the Uecker is. I think both Uekcers say his name on the front.

Thanks for the help guys. I really wanted the SGA versions obviously, but if there isn't much of a difference in price and the retails aren't still being sold, I figured I'd just go with the retails if that's all I can find for now. I got them both for 45 (plus shipping), so I guess I didn't get ripped off or anything and that sounds like a fair price. Anyways, thanks again for the prompt assistance!
