Bonds Blows Up

T B0NE 10

Recommended Posts

He's frustrated because he's in an 0-20 slump and he's trying too hard to hit home runs. He did the same thing when he was attempting to pass Babe Ruth. Roger Maris struggled with the stress of trying to pass Babe Ruth's single season mark.

I think the media's blowing this way out of proportion -- the guy is frustrated because he's in a slump and his team stinks. There's not much more to it than that.

Bonds could dontate 1,000,000 dollars to an individual or charity and will still get scrutinized by some. It's getting old in my opinion.

I think Barry is just frustrated that he didn't get a hit in a do or die series for his team against their biggest rival.

Refusing to talk to the media isn't a huge deal. Heck, Ted Simmons spent the entire 1982 season not talking to the media; nobody really cared.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

This is just getting comical. If you don't like Bonds, ignore him. Who cares what he says? People are just waiting for him to do anything so they can point and say how much they hate him. It's only a story because the media and some fans want it to be.

I don't like Barry one bit. He's earned the disdain....yet I think he is being unnecessarily vilified.

The same media folks that made him a hero...and buried their head in the sand when it's been obvious what was happening are now acting cheated....it borders on being dumb...and I'm not playing.

Seriously out of all the things that people have against Barry this has got to the be on the bottom. He's frustrated with himself because hes hitting .111 this month. Just because he hits the same amount of home runs as Hank Aaron doesnt mean he is going to behave the same way Hank did. I think we all know that Barry is a jerk and that hes pretty good at hitting, he is going to be in the news enough the rest of the year that this really shouldnt be news.

I like Bonds, and things like this make me like him more. I love how he can just drive a whole bunch of people nuts by just choosing to not talk to the media. He really did nothing here - he is so reviled that things he doesn't do make people angry. The media treats him like crap, and there's nothing for him to gain by talking to them. When he does, he speaks with candor, and suddenly there's the "Barry's just a jerk" crowd popping up. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

We already know he used roids to help him get the home run record. We already know his ego is bigger than his Mench like head.

All the things constantly brought up about Bonds even if it's a total non-story like this was bores me silly. He's gonna break the record, some will respect him breaking it and many won't,minds are already made up about Barry.Creating a big story everytime he opens his mouth or even doesn't open it is the media craving for anything to talk about.

I wish the media would just let him have his record and each individual fan can decide for themselves if they wanna respect how he went about breaking it.Plus,he won't be holding the record for all that long barring ARod not suffering a career ending injury.

im more saying that bonds should not be dropping f bombs to reporters when he is on the verge of breaking sports greatest record

Big deal,he's not the first athlete to be frustrated while playing poorly and to have a reporters question trigger a swear filled responce.Just because he's on the verge of breaking a huge record doesn't make him immune from letting frustration get the best of him.

if hank aaron went 0-25 would he be acting the way bonds is in swearing to reporters and looking like a total idiot....i understand if bonds says "Yeah im having troubles right now and i really dont want to talk about it because im frusturated and im not playing to my ability" but saying "im a @3##$%@ embarassment to this uniform, now go way" doesnt exactly look that good. The guy is just a total idiot. Him and Sheiffield are in the same class. Bonds cheats on everything, baseball, taxes, his wife. He just isnt the guy you want breaking the best record in sports. Thank god for A-Rod, and the fact he will probably break bonds record

i didn't see it as a problem at all, i think a pretty honest answer. he's frustrated by his playing, so why would he want to answer the same questions about why he stinks over and over again from reporters, particularly from the same sort of reporters who can't wait to dig up dirt on him.

Yes - Barry should be talking to the media on a daily basis about his slump and how bad his team is. Seriously, if he did that tThen he would be kicked for just trying to stay in the limelight. How many times can you say you respect Hank and the homerun record before you sound like a scratched CD?

I am glad that a number of posters here did not take the knee-jerk reaction and just attack Barry for this. First off, I think its a bit prudish to really care one way or the other that he swears when asked about his slump or his team's recent play. His not talking to the media is perhaps not reminiscant of Hank Aaron but is akin to Ted Williams or Joe DiMaggio, guys who were far less inclined to have the reputations they currently do if they played in today's supercharged media driven atmosphere surrounding professional sports. He is not being nominated for sainthood, he's a ballplayer. Leave him alone.
