I almost fell off my chair...

probably belongs on LambeauLeap, but anyway . . .

The Big Ten made an edict (or whatever) that starting with 2015 season, the scheduling would not have any more cupcake Division 1-AA teams on their schedules. This is because with the new playoff thing in CFB that starts in 2015 there would be a greater emphasis on strength of schedule. Big Ten teams that get 3-4 "pre-season" wins against cupcake schools would probably "never" get a chance to play in the 4-team playoff.

(before somebody points out my use of "never" and tries to argue about it or whatever, please note the subtle use of quotation marks with the word "never" in my statement.

i think there should be a happy medium between scheduling alabama and autin peay. the point is still to get through the season with 0 or 1 losses or your SOS won't matter. The recent home and home with Oregon State is a good example. they come from a good conference and are a decent team that you have a chance to still beat.

the landscape of the 2 teams could change in the next 2 seasons but right now I'd say the same fate awaits Wisconsin that did Michigan last season in the opener. I really didn't help Michigan's season this year.

Unless they actually beat Alabama..... (half blue?)

I don't see why not. I think there's a reason this game was scheduled for 2015, from Wisconsin's perspective. At that point they will likely have a 3 year starter at QB, whether that's Stave, Houston, or McEvoy. Gordon will be a senior, I believe. They'll have experienced players at most positions. And who knows what kind of recruiting boom might happen under GA in the next year or so.

Clearly, it's difficult to say this far out what will happen. But I'll remain optimistic about Bucky's chances until I have reason not to be.

I'm not much of an NCAA football fan so maybe this is a stupid question. Why don't they have preseason games? I always thought they scheduled cupcakes so they could get their teams ready for conference play and they didn't want to lose a chance at a national championship while getting their players up to speed so to speak.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.
