Summer of 2013 ROCK and ROLL!

TURBO

Man, there are some great concerts/festivals on schedule for this summer if you like 80's Metal!!!!

Rock USA in Oshkosh has Van Halen, Ratt, Dokken, Great White, Queensryche, and Jackyl.

Rock Fest in Cadott has KISS, Motley Crue, Whitesnake, and Megadeth.

Summerfest has RUSH.

Only bummer is that Rockfest and Rock USA happen the exact same weekend. What is the point of that? I would think that someone dropped the ball there as people who would attend a rock concert weekend like those would probably do both if they fell on different weekends. Forcing people to make a choice is not the best plan when it comes to making money.

Anyway, looks like a great summer shaping up for metal heads like myself!

Rock USA has a fantastic deal on tickets if you buy them before this Wednesday.

It sounds like this could be Van Halen's only US date all year.

I'd never attend a festival show but yeah, that's a couple pretty decent lineups.

I'm trying to figure out why Van Halen would play a festival in Oshkosh when they could probably still sell out almost any arena in the country... especially with no other US dates scheduled. Based on their history over the past few years, I certainly wouldn't buy a ticket to the festival unless it was refundable in the event VH cancels.

I was thinking the same exact thing about Van Halen bailing, however, there are enough other bands that are worth seeing for the $49 four day festival price...

Brett Michaels was originally on the bill too, but he bailed. (Didn't want to see him anyway, not my cup of tea)

I think there is a lot of risk if you only want to see Van Halen, and as volatile as they can be, I think I am fully expecting them to NOT be there.

Van Halen isn't exactly the band they once were by most accounts, so I wouldn't be too excited necessarily even of they do show.

I respect that opinion, however, have you heard their last album?

GREAT stuff. I was fighting with myself to even give it a try, I was turned off that Michael Anthony was no longer in the band, but they still have it, and the last cd is the proof!

Rock USA does a great job making everyone in attendance satisfied. I set up there as a vendor, last year being my first and between the crowd and the people. Was a great experience. Wednesday and Friday nights lineups are shaping up pretty good as well with Godsmack, Sevendust, Chevelle, Avenged Sevenfold, Saliva, Buckcherry. Looking at great music for all 4 days.

I was planning on doing RockFest in Cadott since its closer to my folks house, but it happens to fall a week and a half before Oshkosh. Cant really justify two trips to WI in that short of a time. Decisions decisions.

Re: Van Halen playing Oshkosh, DLR was on the radio a few days ago and talked about it and implied that another group was booked/planned for that headliner spot and it fell through, so they came to VH who agreed to fill in. So it's kind of a one-time deal for the US this year.

I was pumped when I saw Rush was coming to Summerfest. Then I saw their set list for their current tour, and now I really doubt I'll even go. I've become a concert snob, and generally won't go unless I have good seats. Not front row center stage, but good enough to really appeciuate the show. So I don't want to pay big bucks to sit through a very long Rush show where they don't even play half their "best" songs. Will readily admit I only know their popular stuff, and I love it, so I'm really torn. Play it by ear I guess.

He did two solid hours without a break on Opie and Anthony. It was a great interview
