I love the fact the Brewers will have viable, flexible roster options should any bullpen pieces struggle -- Josh Stinson, Michael Olmsted, Brandon Kintzler, Jesus Sanchez -- and looky, Donovan Hand has carried over his fantastic winter ball season with four scoreless spring outings thus far. Hand would need to be added to the 40-man, however, as would Alfredo Figaro. Still, all those guys have options remaining, as does Jim Henderson, who should not be looking at a "guaranteed" spot given the other talent available. Brewers could play a lot of "hot hand" with the pen this year, unlike last.

By the way, here's the report from last December --

Hector Gomez suffered a serious groin injury recently during Dominican Winter League play and could miss much of the 2013 season."He will probably have surgery in the next couple of days," said Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash. "He has had a history of groin injuries and it flared up again. We just don't know the extent of it. Is it a four-month (absence) or eight months?" Gomez, 24, was claimed off waivers from the Rockies in June and had been slated to start the season at Double-A.

While Gomez was outrighted off the 40-man roster last October, he could still be a valuable member of the organization if he can stay healthy. Considering he's up from minor league camp for today's game, it appears he dodged a bullet with his winter injury. Maybe we'll learn more from Adam M. or Todd R. in AZ today.

Gameday

Lance Roenicke's 9th inning game-tying single must have been a cool moment for dad.

Outside of Cole Garner's AB's, nothing to review in terms of minor league camp. We will see some of the youngsters rewarded with big league game appearances this week, based on what they're showing on the back fields.

Nashville's site has game summaries (although not box scores) for the first three games as of today.

Just click on the game score for each.

Here's their latest, nice effort for Tyler Thornburg.
