2013 Brewerfan.net Winter Meetings:Saturday, March 2, 7 PM, at MP Friday's

With Packers season now sadly over, and thoughts turning to Maryvale and Spring Training, it's time to start talking about this year's Brewerfan.net Winter Meetings.

We've had it the past two years in the Madison area, so in fairness, we're going to look at the Milwaukee area this year. We typically pick a Saturday night in March.

Let's get some chatter going and figure out what we would like to do this year, and pick a date. I am happy to make any "reservations" if needed. Last year we had the manager of a venue in Madison volunteer a space, and we'd welcome similar suggestions again.

If you haven't been to the Brewerfan.net Winter Meetings before: Despite the formal name of the event, it's just an excuse to get together, have some drinks and food, and talk about the upcoming Brewers season. All are welcome to attend (except Cubs and Cardinals fans).

Good call, Invader. To properly fill my bf.net wonk role, I'll point out that March 2013 has five Saturdays: the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th.

Just saying, nearly any venue worth its salt will be chock full of St. Patrick's Day crazy on the 16th (as we learned that one year at Kelly's Bleachers).

There is a 1:10 exhibition game at MP on the 30th, which might bring in some out of towners already. The SO and I are hosting a hawing family outing to that game, so I would have to figure out how to send them back to south central/southeast Wisconsin on their own, but that's not impossible. That's Easter weekend, which might be enough to put the kibosh on that date anyway.

I'm anything but expert in Milwaukee-area venues, but someplace where we can get our own space, or even a corner, would aid in conversation. Fourth Base in 2010 had a back room that we took over, though my memory is that their food was pretty pricey. We were treated so well by recte44 at Madison's AJ Bombers last year that anything else might be a letdown. :)

This board is chock full of Milwaukee area types. Give us your venue suggestions!

I'd be open to attending. There are tons of places that might be good fits depending on what type of food, etc. people are thinking of.

When I was organizing a bachelor party in Milwaukee I was able to reserve a room at Milwaukee Ale House. It didn't cost anything and the beer and food is solid.

I can also vouch for the food and beer at the Ale House. I used to work downtown and would have dinner there at least once a month.

Ale house is great, but can get a little pricy, that whole part of town is. You should look into the Brat House on old world third. Its never too busy, the staff is great, the food is great, the beer is cheap. It was my all time favorite place in Milwaukee for the years i lived there.

Seems like it's closed down unfortunately. It would have been a good place.

Should we consider Friday's at Miller Park?

I haven't hardly posted here much (going to change this season :) ), but I've always wanted to get together with other Brewers fans who are just as passionate about the Brewers as I am, so I might actually attend one of these gatherings. The only thing is, I can't do it in March, but the way things are going right now I will likely be in town for the opening day series at Miller Park Vs the Rockies in April. It would be super convenient to get together at the ballpark at Friday's, during that time frame. I live in Ohio, but should be able to get together any game of that Rockies series. I'm a shy person, but this sounds pretty interesting and makes me feel more comfortable, if it's able to work out. Keep me updated, ok? Thanks guys.

I'm open to the Miller Park Friday's. Despite having visited MP hundreds of times, I've never eaten there.

Some pros: Everyone can find it (as long as you can find Miller Park), parking shouldn't be a problem, we can gaze longingly out the windows at the field.

Possible cons: Their private room is $100 on non-game Saturday nights, plus a food/beverage minimum. If we drew 60 participants (the room's maximum) this wouldn't be totally crazy, but the average attendance at a winter meeting is more like 10-15. I don't know the layout of Friday's, so I don't know how readily they could accommodate like 4-5 tables worth of us, or how precise a head count we'd need to have. But we could ask.
