If you are only allowed 3 challenges per game, it will only cover the egregiously bad calls and not the ones where the catcher frames a pitch on the corner. I don't want every borderline call to be challenged. Only the ones that are especially important to the outcome of the game or are really bad calls.

Good Outside the Lines this morning regarding the mess the Marlins are in currently with political outrage over the stadium agreement and increasing fan apathy toward the team. The Miami Mayor was very direct in his criticism of Jeffery Loria. They also referred to a group of young Marlins fans that were escorted out of the stadium for having signs/shirts protesting the Marlins. The group started their own website, linked here: Rage Against The Marlins website

There is a lot of financial incentive for Loria to wait until after 2015 to sell the team (wouldn't have to give a portion of the sale to the city at that point), but it is hard to see the resentment surrounding the franchise improving much in the near future.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I've been thinking of some of the massive contracts of the past 5 years or so and am surprised at how many seem to have worked out despite general fan and Brewer fan predictions that they would be big mistakes.

I'm thinking of a few like:

CC Sabathia. 4 years in? Still earning his contract.

Zito: Had a bump in the road but pretty much earning his monster contract

Matt Holliday: thought for sure the Cards would regret that and he is still dangerous.

There were others I thought of for rival teams that I hoped and prayed the player would burn out and they didn't but I can't think of them now. Any contributions?

Ones that were a mistake are hard for me to think of. Only one I can think of is Soriano.

I'm probably in the minority here, but CC Sabathia is the 1 pitcher I would have offered between 7 year/160 - 9 year/200 million if I was the Brewers owner, and I would have bet he would have agreed to stay since the Brewers had negotiating rights with him prior to anybody else. His arm is built to last and he is the most durable pitcher other than Verlander in the Majors. I was obvious to me he would have lived up to the contract.
Robin Yount - “But what I'd really like to tell you is I never dreamed of being in the Hall of Fame. Standing here with all these great players was beyond any of my dreams.”

Not to rehash the entire thing, but the Yankees would have just kept upping their offer until they got him. The Steinbrenners said there was no way they weren't signing him, and money was basically no object.

Prince Fielder last 2 games: 0-11, 9 K.

Brett Lawrie is 2-19 with 2 singles,9 K's and 0 walks since rejoining the Blue Jays. His OBP is actually lower than his average right now. Obviously, he will heat up just like Fielder will but rough few games for former Brewer top prospects
