Recording DVD from DVR

Austin Tatious

I have DirecTV and have a DVR from DirecTV.

Being a sports nut, I am constantly struggling to have open space on DVR so I have to delete things I don't want to delete.

Is anyone an electronics expert? Questions

1.Can you recommend a DVD-recorder that can connect to my DirecTV DVR?

2.is it easy to operate?

3.Can you record onto BlueRay?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Not too tech savvy myself, but might it be easier to transfer the DVR programming onto your computer and burn a copy from there? May be easier than purchasing a DVD-Recorder. I know Tivo has software to transfer stuff to my computer although I've never used it. I'm sure there's something out there for a generic DVR.

This is definitely something you can do.

It's as simple as plugging the dvr into the input for the dvd recorder and hitting play on the DVR. Sadly, you cannot do this "quickly" recording an hour long show will take an hour.

You can write to blu-rays, but you'd need a blu-ray writer to do so.

As for transferring the files to PC, it can be done, but requires a little bit of DVR hacking, and PC installation. Definitely not something for the faint of heart.
