Cody Ross to AZ (3yrs/$26M)

I don't get this signing either. The only thing that I can think of is theres a heck of an offer for Kubel on the table and they wanted to secure his replacement before doing so? Otherwise you're looking at downgrade imo compared to Kubel. There would need to be an upgrade coming elsewhere on the team.

And then again there's still Upton, but who plays CF when he leaves? Parra? Either way Ross is a downgrade of whomever leaves. There would need to be a heck of an upgrade to justify trading either. I don't like them commiting 3yrs and 26mil? I will say that if Kubel gets traded to me would give a fresh idea on what Hart's value is in trade as Hart is about the same to slightly better than Kubel.

Rumor has Rays interested in Kubel. At which pitcher? I wouldn't like the deal for the Rays to lose another pitcher after Shields and Davis and picking up Kubel's contract to lose likely a pitcher who they'd have had control on cheap side doesn't follow to me.

I thought Cody Ross was a greatly over rated player until I looked up his stats and he's really not that over rated. Victorino is is making $13M a year and Ross is making $9.5 in his highest paid season. If we're talking contracts I'd take Ross but if we're talking just the player they are probably a horse a piece.

That surprises me. Lets just say the only issue then is that Victorino seems to physically be banged up and somewhat worn down and Ross seems like he hasn't played full time because of flaws in his game not getting him full time play. I trust Ross's health more, I think Victorino is significantly better as a player and would take him easily at these prices. Though to be fair his defensive value takes a hit playing in Fenway.
