Not to mention they just don't need him and they are struggling to re-sign/extend some of their offense right now which is the priority. EJ just doesn't make much sense for the Nats.

So they don't need him but they need Dan haren?

Dan Haren for 1 year is a better investment and they are 5 deep with some prospects already so what good would EJ do them? They are looking at a lot of money being spent on extensions in the near future, EJ just ties up money they could spend better elsewhere in the next few years.

$13 mil a year for a 4+ ERA doesn't sound all that great to me.

 

With all the TV money flooding in, it may look cheap in a couple of years.
