Favorite WI Lake

RobDeer 45
I grew up near solon springs. It's about 25 miles from superior.

Used to live in Gordon :)

BTW, minor quibble from earlier in thread, but it's Mellen, not Melon.

Technically, yes. But not how we used to tease them. ;)

And remembering Gordon... the flowage was always nice too. I don't remember any cabins allows on it, but there was a campground where I spent many a summer... tubing, swimming, fishing, showering under the falls. Ah.. good times.

Gordon flowage and St. Croix river below it has really changed over the years since they started the cranberry farm just up river from the flowage. It dumps so much fertilizer and nutrients into the system that the aquatic vegetation has really exploded.

The city of Green Lake is by Big Green Lake. There is also a Little Green Lake within about 5ish miles.

To add to the confusion, there's also a Green Lake in Washington County (my favorite, for sentimental reasons).

Any little lake in Lac du Flambeau

Little Trout is my favorite, but the landing is dangerous to your property sometimes...won't get too deep into that. Lake Tomahawk is my other.

Nice golf course there too.

It is my goal to someday own property on one of Wisconsin's awesome lakes. It's really hard trying to narrow it down, there are so many great ones to choose from. I always like to hear people's opinions on which lake or area is their favorite in the state. Go ahead and shoot, which lake is your favorite and why?

Just curious - have you purchased lakefront property since 2012?

Honestly, the search is half the fun. One of my best childhood memories is traveling around Northern Wisconsin with my dad and brother. He'd take off of work whenever my brother and I had a day off from school and the three of us would hit the road. This was pre-internet, mind you, so we'd be armed with nothing more than the newspaper classifieds and a folding map of the state.

No I have not but just got done with a week long rental in NW Wisconsin. We've been doing a new lake each year and using it as a scouting trip. We are still out of state at this time and although we've been tempted, I'm thinking it's best we wait until we are closer. The whole renting your property thing is intriguing but could be frustrating from so far away.
