Marquette should be a 4 seed for sure. Their RPI was #10 before the BE Tourney, so they still have to be one of the top 16 teams, I would think. No way Wisconsin is a 5 seed, unless they win a game or two in the Big Ten tourney. I think they are a 6 right now. RPI is even lower than that.

RPI is not the end all be all. Wisconsin has a really good resume. There is a site that averages every bracket out there and Wisconsin is a solid 5 seed as of today. Minnesota has a much better RPI than Wisconsin but there is no one who believes those teams are close. Belmony has an RPI of 18

The one thing hurting Marquette is their road/neutral court record. I think they only have one road/neutral court win against a tournament team but have 8 road/neutral court losses. They are 1-7 vs tournament level teams in that situation. That could knock them down a bit. Compare that to the Badgers who are 3-5 and if they get a win today would bump that up a little more.

Even with that one issue I still think they end up as a 4 seed

That one issue is why they are a 4 seed and not a 2-3 seed. You can counter that by saying that Marquette was undefeated at home against every possible tournament team. Yes, UW has a better road record but they couldn't take care of business at home against Virginia, MSU, and Purdue, and needed a half-court desperation 3 to avoid a home loss to Michigan.

If you look at every other team that is vying for a 3-5 seed you will find similar flaws in their resume as well. New Mexico lost at home to San Diego State, got blown out at SDSU, and lost at Air Force; Saint Louis lost at home to URI and Santa Clara; Memphis' losses have been good losses but had a weak non-conference schedule and their best win was at Tennessee; Arizona lost at home to UCLA and Cal; Marquette swept Pitt.

I believe both Marquette and WI could easily get bounced in the 1st round of the tourney. With WI horrible shot selection and combined with some very bad shooting I can see them getting bounced in the 1st round by just about any team. With Marquette they haven't learned the whole season on how to step on a teams neck and kill them off. Look at the Notre Dame game in the Big East tourney and also look at the Georgetown game and there was a couple of other games where Marquette was up and then just let the other team back into the game. This is a huge flaw for Marquette as they are not able to put a team away when they have the other team beat. If Marquette is matched up with a team that has a good inside game that may also be the end of Marquette or any team that forces Marquette to actually shoot long range jump shots it will be ugly. I have no faith in any player on Marquette to hit any kind of long range jump shot.

But both Marquette and WI could also easily both make it to the sweet 16 and I wouldn't be surprised if one or both make it to the elite 8 and then one of them making it to the final four.

Impressive first half for the badgers. They are really attacking the basket and just looking alive out there with a lot of movement and hustle. I like this basket attacking Evens a lot more than the one that just jacks up mid range jumpers.

Where was this team all season? They are unstoppable when they can get points in the paint.

At this point, they're so deep & balanced. It's really been fun to watch.

I'm really glad the championship game will be against OSU. MSU just terrifies me at this time of year.

Good sign for the Badger in terms of seeding. There was an interview on CBS with the head of seeding for the NCAA and he said that he looked at RPI and Kenpom and if there was a large difference he looks at the team more closely. You would think that would be good for the Badgers since they are crazily low in RPI 34 and really high in Kenpom 9. If you explore the Badger's resume you see a very good resume. They know have wins over Indiana (2), Michigan (2), OSU. You wont find many teams with 5 wins like that. 13-9 vs RPI top 100, 8-7 vs RPI top 50, 5-5 vs RPI top 25, and one loss outside RPI 100.

Win tomorrow, and they probably get a four seed vs. the five seed they look to be locked into right now.

Tomorrow wont matter. It has been said before the committee has their brackets done before the finale of the Big Ten tourney. Where we are now is where we will be

If that's the case, I'd expect the Badgers to get a five seed. I don't see them getting a four seed, even though they should because they've handled all the high seeds from the Big 10 this year (except for MSU). I guess it depends how much stock they put on strength of schedule, as they really only have one bad loss this year.

UW usually does pretty well against teams that rely heavily on getting turnovers which is basically what IU does. They have problems with teams that play really strong perimeter defense and really strong positional defense inside. MSU does both of those things very well. OSU gets a lot of turnovers too so I am hopeful their recent defensive surge is a mirage because they don't defend the perimeter well and give up a lot of 2pt baskets as well. A lot hinges on how effective Jackson can be against Craft.

If people can look past RPI (which is a flawed ranking system) and look at other ranking systems as well Wisconsin looks very good. Kenpom has them at 9 and Saragin has them at 10. There was actually a study done of teams that were ranked vastly differently by Kenpom and RPI and almost every time Kenpom's predictions were more accurate. I know the committee needs to use computer rankings to see how good teams are because they cant watch every game, but they need to use more than just RPI.

Belmont is 17 in the RPI with 0 top 25 wins (0-2) and 4 losses to teams outside the top 100.

UNC is 16 with 1 win and 6 losses vs the top 25. How can you be considered top 20 if you lose to almost every good team you play? They are just 2-7 vs top 50 teams

Memphis is 13 going 0-2 vs top 25 teams and are 3-3 vs top 50. 21 of their 30 wins are against teams outside the top 100

Colorado St is 18 but is just 3-7 vs top 50 teams and have one loss outside the top 100

Wisconsin on the other hand is 28 but 5-6 vs the top 25 and 8-7 vs the top 50. They have one loss outside the top 100.

You would think that someone at channel 7 would realize how irritating it is for them to run their winter weather advisory bar directly over the top of the score and time clock for the basketball game.

Yes the weather advisory information is important to get out, but is there anyone at the station actually watching what they are putting on the screen to see how poorly it is set up?

Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though

Everyone will hate Marshall Henderson from Ole Miss:

About as good of a draw for UW as one could have hoped. They are going to make Henderson at Ole Miss go bonkers. K State will be a tough 2nd round game but I really like there chances of making a deep run. Maybe a rematch with Ohio State in the Elite 8
