Looks like the Dew Deck and parts of the Club level concourse are getting the remodeling treatment this off-season. I can't say I'd encourage a climbing wall anywhere in Miller Park, though, even if it looks like a big can of Dew:

Yeah, I saw that earlier. Not against the Brewers making more money, but that outfield is getting pretty cluttered up.

Ya I like it. I think the MT Dew can looks a little goofy but I do think that area needed an update. I think the Miller Deck could be a fun area. I know I'd enjoy that.

There were people climbing the Dew can during Monday's game. I noticed one fairly late in the game - apparently watching the Brewers was no longer cool by then. Didn't see anything resembling an accident, though (knocking wood and touching iron).

I agree it looks cool without being too obtrusive. I guess it would be hard to make the outfield area much more cluttered at this point. The Dew climbing thing doesn't look bad either.

 

I wish they would remove those huge square advertisements from the outfield area...they look tacky IMHO and obscure the view outside when the panels are open. I realize advertising dollars are too precious to the Brewers, though.

I frequently bring my kids to the game and new to the right field area is:

1. Statue of Bernie Brewer. This was a big hit with the 3 year old.

2. Racing Sausage Statues - Another big hit. I also liked that after the race the winning sausage will be there for pictures.

On a racing sausage tangent (a phrase which should probably never be used except in a Brewers context), I was moderately dismayed yesterday to see that the Brewers did not display sausage race standings. Instead each racing sausage is assigned to a section of the park and if that sausage wins, fans with a ticket for that section win something.

 

The sausage race standings have grown increasingly important* to my fan experience. The media guide even has sausage race standings going back to 2007. (True story! I stumbled across them while perusing the new guide on Sunday.) Bring back the sausage race standings.

 

*Edit: Not more important than the game itself. But in recent seasons we have enjoyed tracking brat futility, and I know at least a couple other bf.netters feel the same way.

I considered that, but I think they showed the standings for the first game last year.

And yes, I realize this is extremely trivial; but in a forum that accepts a port-a-potty thread, I think this is no worse, and maybe better.

Gorman's Grill on two consecutive nights have refused us lids for our designated driver drinks. They claim the Brewers aren't providing lids for that size anymore. I asked Hawing and she did not have this problem. I will have to find a different stand to use.

Another of our party couldnt get lids for their sodas on the 2nd level last night....

Our only 2013 experience has been on the terrace level, where I would kind of like to think that lids would be helpful, since there are no cup holders up there. (I know, they're helpful in general, but in this setting, especially in the terrace.) Certainly less plastic is greener, but I'm not convinced it's worth more spills.

 

If I think of it on Sunday, I'll try to remember to get soda on the loge level - though it's often easier for us to get it on the terrace level. We always get our DD coupon from the terrace level guest relations people because they're so nice, and even on days when we sit elsewhere, if we didn't at least stop up to say hello, we'd hear about it later.

I tried getting a lid on my DD drink last night. I was told they were not able to put lids on them. That was on the 100 level, first base side.

huh, in Maryvale, they were telling us the same thing--no lids on any drinks. I asked the concessions manager and he said something about players' safety and preventing fans from throwing them onto the field, in addition to the extra cleanup associated with fans that do not use the trash cans.

 

I find it interesting that it "appears" to have carried over to Milwaukee.

That is the same reason we couldn't get lids in Minnesota, "Too many fans throw them on the field". Do people really take off the lids and throw them?

Smells like an answer someone cooked up to feed to the public in order to cut costs by not ordering lids anymore.

I suppose at least in the RFCoder seats, you have a chance of a tossed lid reaching the field, or (maybe worse yet?) fans in the picnic area. I think from either of our season seat locations, the jet stream would have to be perfect for anything I wanted to toss to reach the field. In the loge, the jet stream would have to be able to carry the lid over the net too.

Are fans really throwing just lids? I read it as getting rid of lids so fans don't throw whole sodas (i.e. if you threw a soda without a lid it wouldn't go very far cuz the soda would fly out). But yeah that still seems rather flimsy.
