2012-09-28 Astros (Gonzalez) at Brewers (Gallardo), 7:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 7-6]

Well, that's the season folks. We literally need at least 12 different games to go our way to make it now. It's just not going to happen. Got within 1.5 and it looked like it might be there for the taking but it just wasn't meant to be.

Still a nice finish and at least they were still playing for something until late in September. Got a lot to be excited about for next year.

Take one for the team there, Carlos.

Yeah yeah, I know it's instinct to move out of the way.

EDIT: Although if he does, it's 7-6 and Segura is standing on 2nd as the tying run with nobody out.

Gomez not getting that HBP would have been the difference more than likely.

They're tired. Ten game road stretch without a day off. I knew it would be tough to still be there after that road trip. They went 6-4 on the road trip - hard to expect better than that when seven of the games are at CIN and WAS - but when the Cards are playing the Astros and Cubs at home you're going to lose ground going 6-4.

The season was lost in July when they lost 9 of 10 to PHI, WAS, and CIN. They made the right call in trading Grienke. They got a young ML quality SS they desperately needed, and while the power hasn't been there for Segura he has been more than adequate defensively and has shown enough to get excited about.

They went 1-5 vs Colorado, 8-7 vs Houston and 0-3 vs Kansas City and 3-3 against Minnesota and 2-5 vs Philly.

They were really, really terrible against bad teams (except the Cubs... ha!)
