He got the first out in the 6th, called for Kranitz, and they pulled him immediately.

I'm just listening to Uke, and Uke was shocked by it.

He didn't call for Kranitz, he walked around like nothing was going on.

Ramirez came to the mound, took the ball from him and essentially took Peralta out of the game. Sounds(and looks like) something in his leg(the comment about the groin sounds and looks right on, but not certain). But they where speculating that it was something the team was aware of before this inning as the bullpen was up and kinda walking around with an eye on the game, unusual when a pitcher is dominating as Peralta was.

My guess is that he'll be good to go for his next start if it IS really a leg issue that's not perfect.

In fact in another replay JUST NOW, they show Ramirez refusing to give the ball back to Peralta and calls the staff out. INCREDIBLE leadership by Ramirez.

Rock and Brian think something was going on since the previous inning. It appears he was trying to pitch through the pain. Maldonado had noticed it, but Aramis Ramirez finally came in and got Wily pulled from the game. It's almost certainly an arm problem based on his reactions.

I don't know how you could POSSIBLY say it's almost "certainly," an arm issue at all.

My guess, and that's all we have to go with as Peralta still had great movement(threw some pretty errant pitches) is that it was a leg as the Brewers coaches and specifically Maldy and Ramirez both knew about it.

I wouldn't think if he said he had tightness in his arm, they'd have sent him back out to the mound for another inning. Plus, it appears as though he had a limp, albeit very slight.

Absolutely could be an arm, but my guess is leg issue, namely groin.

Yes I agree, at first I only saw the replay where he was messing with the sleeve on his arm. I find it hard to believe that he would come out for a groin issue though.

That view they showed from the dugout scared me. All you could see was Peralta grabbing at his arm and my first thought was oh crap. Then they show from the centerfield camera and it was just him grabbing his sleeve and pulling it down.

Uh oh. That's probably it for Wily in 2012.

And not to be dramatic, but if this IS the case, there goes that 1 in 20 shot we still had. Which sucks, but I'm almost as excited about how this team came together down the stretch than the prospect of making the playoffs. And if it's something that forces him to change how he throws in ANY way, change his delivery, or is as someone else speculated was actually an arm injury, elbow, shoulder, then I don't see any plausible way you throw him again this year. He's not a guy like Marcum, and the Brewers are too smart to throw him out there again with a sore shoulder or elbow simply to try and complete their miracle comeback.

Hard to know what it is with Peralta, but the conventional wisdom on this one is right: If anything is off with him, especially as hard as he throws, it's better to get him out before the problem messes up his delivery and he either really does hurt his arm or turns a minor arm issue into a major one.

Hope I'm right about the lower-body guess, but I could well be wrong.

Peralta only had one start left and it is against a crap team. Him missing that start doesn't completely ruin any chance at all.

I don't know, but if he has a groin injury, that can be almost as damaging potentially to his elbow/shoulder as an actual elbow or shoulder injury. If you have to change your delivery and all the sudden you're throwing without as much torque, putting more pressure on your arm...I don't find it hard to believe at all.

PLUS, to me it makes more sense. I'll have lost a little respect if it was his elbow, arm, they knew about it, and they sent him back out there.

It doesn't ruin our chance "at all?" Peralta has been nearly dominant. He was scheduled to pitch the second to last game of the season. I think most would agree we need to win today, and then win out to have a legit shot at the playoffs.

To go with a BP by committee, or to go with Thornburg for 65-70 pitches at this point after not starting in how long, I'd say it significantly reduces the chances we win that game, and obviously then at least hurts our chance. So maybe it doesn't "ruin," it, but it certainly does have SOME impact.

Well you said they are now done because of the Peralta injury which is kind of silly because he only had one more start this year. It will be more difficult to win Tuesday but the initial post was an overreaction.

So RRR decided to use one of his right handed hitting catchers to pinch hit...and he goes with Yorvit over Lucroy. WHY

I'm wondering if it has something to do with the lack of men on base. Not saying it was right or wrong, but maybe he would rather save Lucroy for a better RBI situation.

Just to piggyback on everyone else's posts regarding Wily...it was definitely Ramirez that called for the trainers. Such a strange sequence of events. In any case, I don't want ANY chances taken with this kid. I think the sky is the limit for Wily.

And I have to 100% agree with Topper's post above. Makes no sense. Quite frankly, not that big of a Yorvit fan in any scenario. I understand the logic behind Melvin adding him, I just don't necessarily think he's a very good player.

Fair point, but then that's your second best bat on the bench? Just a weird decision.

I assumed it was too give Lucroy and MM more pinch hit opportunities with an emergency catcher in place. Any other use of him is bizarre.

solid performance from Kintz, TPOT and Hendy. cannot wait to see what the Ax has to bring for the 9th.
