2012-09-19 Brewers (Estrada) at Pirates (McPherson), 6:05 PM CDT [Brewers win, 3-1]

Pirates fans have to be so disappointed. I feel bad for them.

I've got to agree here. There are a handful of current/former Pirates players who irritate me (such as Devil Eye Doumit, Gap-Toothed Jack Wilson, Jeff "Plunk" Karstens), but I find myself able to identify and empathize with Pirates fans. Even vuvuzela guy, who at least is showing up.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Ax wasn't nearly as bad as you guys are making him out to be. Gave up bomb to one of the best hitters in the game, then got a pop-up, gave up a sawed-off muscle poke to left, got a K, then a ground out. Terrible I say!

After he gave up the HR he threw three straight high fastballs that weren't even close. I think there was cause for alarm there, given how this season has gone. He wasn't particularly sharp the entire inning but he got the job done.

It would have been very nice to handle houston earlier in the year rather than the opposite... Oh well, maybe the cubs can win a couple against the cards.

Handle Houston? Or the Royals.... or the Twins... or the Rockies...

I don't know how you guys can feel bad for a completely apathetic fan base.

I hope they lose the rest of their games. Those "fans" don't deserve any better.

That's the same thing that people said about the Brewers during the two decades of losing in Milwaukee. It's hard to be enthusiastic about a team when ownership failed for so long to put something competitive on the field. I'm sure there are just as many hardcore Pirates fans now as there were Brewers fans before Milwaukee finally turned the corner. We all now how that feels.

The Pirates have been terrible for so long that a whole generation of fans grew up not caring about baseball. The ones who did probably like other teams instead. So the fans might not necessarily come back because they don't exist in the first place.

Even if the Pirates have success, it will take a long time to solve their attendance problems.

The Brewers averaged 25,000 fans in 2004 with their worst team of the last 35 years, and I can guarantee you if they had been in a playoff race the would've had 35,000+ every game.

Pittsburgh's fan base is terrible.
