Most Disappointing non-injured top prospect

Over at Minor League Ball, they have a topic about who is the most disappointing non-injured top prospect. I gave this some thought and had a hard time coming up with a Brewer who truly disappointed this year. There were some that didn't do as well as I'd hope, but none were really horrible. These are the players I came up with:

 

 

Jed Bradley - Probably best qualifies. We all expected better

Caleb Gindl - After last year, I expected more.

Brooks Hall - Even in a pitchers park, he has not impressed. K's are way too low.

Nick Ramirez - He's hitting HRs, but a 25:142 BB:K ratio isn't gonna cut it.

Taylor Jungmann - I hesitated to list him, but I was hoping for a huge year. He looks more like a inning eater rather than a top of the rotation guy.

Kyle Heckathorn. Dissapointed as a starter, but seems to have found something in the bullpen. Hopefully he continues to build on the late season successes.

Bradley without question. Schafer disappointed too. The other guys who struggled were all a bit fringy going into this year.

Same here. I think the expectations people have of what guys 'should' do are sometimes pretty overzealous

I think it depends what the expectations were and quite honestly I think the Brewers sold him as something he's not. When Melvin said he could be in the MLB rotation last year if he would sign it just set the bar way too high, people started thinking he was a top of the rotation finished product which he clearly isn't.

 

He's been about exactly what I thought he was, I agree with him not being on the list.

 

My guy would be Max Walla, I thought he had turned a corner, and he has made vast improvement, but he's still a below average A baller after his 4th season.

It was buster olney,, or whatever espn reporter that pulled that quote from dm, that set up unrealistic expectations. Iirc Melvin answerer about whether or not jungmann could make it to mlb, not the brewers' rotation. I remember commenting at the time on bf.net that it really seemed like Melvin got taken out of context.

I think its because a lot of people blow these kids name up during the season or off and when they struggle its disappointing 2 see.

Definitely Jed Bradley number one. Another name I'll throw out there is Santo Manzanillo. I was also disappointed to see Wily Peralta's control take such a turn for the worse. Way too many walks.

Jungmann has been fine. Not great, but decent. Certainly not disappointing (at least in my book).

 

Bradley and Gindl are spot on. Both have struggled.

 

Others have pointed out Heckathorn and Walla.

 

I'd also list Taylor Green. Did he get a fair shake in Milwaukee? I don't know. But he certainly got a chance - 100 ABs - but his PT was erratic at best. Still, he did poorly. He knew his role and didn't seize it. And then when he returned to AAA he was mediocre - only a .753 OPS. I had expected more from him this year.

I will throw in Devo Richardson. Just when I thought he was making significant progress, he quits.
