Comic Books

Viva La Grinch

Recently, I bought a large box of comics full of early Captain America, Spiderman, and Ghost Rider comics, which has sparked an interest back in comics. The problem is that I have not collected comics since I was a kid. I would like to get back into it, but am clueless on what the comic book scene is these days.

I do not want to collect anything new, but am more interested in material I may have read as a kid or earlier. I was more of a DC guy than a Marvel guy, and also was a big fan of Archie comics as a kid. I am not looking at collecting to make a killing money wise, but would like to have some nice pieces mixed in with some low end bulk. The couple of comic book stores that I went to, had mostly newer stuff that did not interest me. So, where would be a good place to start looking for older comics from the 60's and 70's? Also, how are comic book values holding up, or would I be throwing money down the drain?

I found some kid comics (Archie, Little Lulu, Disney) at Rummage-o-Rama at State Fair Park.

I have no idea on value, I didn't buy them as collectibles, but to show my daughter what kids read back in my day.

I have a bunch of comics in my basement. Mostly mid to late 90s stuff from when I was young (11-16ish). But I also have some MAD magazines from the 60s/70s that my grandpa found at a rummage.
This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.
