The Office Season 9 (final season)

adamb100

It was a good episode. The amount of Michael Scott was just right, especially with the "That's what she said" line. The call back to Devin was also great.

It's going to be fun to watch these episodes in syndication for years to come, especially the early ones.

I agree, it was a good finale, though I did wish it was a bit longer. I really liked the way they brought Michael back, it was pretty perfectly done.

The last few seasons were pretty tough to sit through sometimes, but I think they went out on a decently high note with the final few episodes.

something I thought of this afternoon, for whatever reason . . . .

I was under the impression that we'd finally see who was filming this documentary at the end of this season. I know that the characters said it was PBS. Was that the "reveal" or did I miss something about who was the director, etc?

Maybe I'm thinking too much.

I loved the last 2 episodes. I thought they were very well done. I was a little disappointed on how they ended the Scranton Strangler situation. With how Toby was talking about it the last season, I thought someone from the office was going to end up being the stranger (I thought Gabe). Oh well... The ending was great anyways!

My favorite part of the episode was when they finally reference Creed being a musician in "The Grass Roots". My dad used to play them when I was a kid, and when I started watching the office, and saw the musician Creed Bratton playing the fictional Creed Bratton, I always wondered if they were ever going to have both of his worlds collide. I just like how they finally made reference to Creed's real life.

The biggest show I'll miss is Happy Endings. I watched it with my fiancee at first just because of Elisha Cuthbert, but then I realized the show was wacky and totally slapstick...my favorite kind of humor. It was clean and hilarious.

Crap, is that official? I thought it was still leaning towards coming back. Good description ... the humor was very wry, fast-paced, dialogue-heavy, slightly physical, and pop-culture-y. Somewhat reminiscent of -- but not as genius as -- Arrested Development or, dare I say, Gilmore Girls (*ducks*). I also originally tuned in for Elisha Cuthbert (HOF greatness) but became hooked on the show's style.

As for The Office, I haven't been much of a fan in a number of years. Seasons 1 and 2 were grand slams, season 3 was a home run, after that they lost me with inferior writing, inconsistent character traits, and too-elaborate plots. I watched, but only with an expectation for mild entertainment.

I must admit, this season has been really well done. I was never someone who thought Michael leaving was a problem, the problems started well before that, when they broke character. And then got worse when they introduced obnoxious characters like Andy, Nellie, Spader's character, and Ferrell's character. This season proved that the show could be great without Michael, and I really enjoyed what the Pete and Clark characters added -- they could have gotten a few good years' worth of story arcs with those two in the mix. (In contrast, the Jim/Pam marital saga and unhappiness and career controversy and blah blah blah was absolutely awful.)

The finale was okay. Seemed a little self-indulgent, like the writers and actors did it for themselves more than the audience. By the end, I was mostly glad it (the series) was over. I will intentionally watch season 1, 2, and 3 with great enjoyment for years to come. Seasons 4+ not so much.

Well I finally watched it. I was putting it off, I guess so I didn't have to admit it was over. As I've stated this is one of my favorite shows of all time. I agree it has gone down hill but it holds a special place in my heart and always will. I loved the recap and how much passion these actors had for what they were doing. Final episode was very solid. Good vibes and some good laughs. Good run office!

I've got to say that I really miss the show. Not so much for entertainment though. The show started when I was in high school. I watched it when I was in college. It was that show that no matter what age I was I could talk about it with people my age and also those younger and older than me. I got together with friends to watch it. It was part of my Thursday night routine. It was my pregame for the weekend.

It's not that I dwell on this or anything but I thought of it while I was watching Parks and Rec on Hulu because I don't even watch TV on Thursdays anymore. It's just weird.

I have been binge watching the Office season 8, and I have to say, this is a very funny season!!! There are so many things I did not catch watching it during the season it was on.

Good stuff!

I have completely changed my stance on the first season without Michael Scott. I hope I think the same about season 9, the final season too.
