Brewer Minor League Free Agents After the 2012 Season

Mass Haas

"he would undoubtedly be claimed by another team"

Not necessarily. First if he shows anything at all in spring, he makes the team. It's hard to imagine the Brewers not carrying him to start the season even if his results in Arizona are not that good. If he's then so bad during the season that the Brewers decide they can't even carry him as the 12th man, it's questionable that other teams would claim him and carry him on their 25 man roster too. Remember he turns 27 in January and would be an out of options pitcher.

FROM THE ORIGINAL POST:

A player who has exhausted all seven years of his original minor league affiliation to the organization that signed him is eligible. Here are the Brewers farmhands who have been with the organization for their full commitment (or even longer in the case of Tim Dillard and Anderson De la Rosa). We've been following these eight guys their whole pro careers.

C Anderson De La Rosa

RHP Tim Dillard -- Elected minor league free agency

RHP Amaury Rivas

RHP Evan Anundsen

1B/OF Brock Kjeldgaard -- SIGNED TO A MINOR LEAGUE CONTRACT FOR 2013

RHP Mike McClendon

LHP Mike Ramlow

RHP Rolando Pascual

Ramlow and Pascual have not appeared in a game in 2012, but each was included in the spring media guide, and MiLB.com shows them as active (not released). Regardless, they are free agent eligible this fall.

FOLLOW-UP:

Evan Anundsen should fine suitors. He'll still be just 24 when the 2013 season starts.

This also is an indication, by not appearing on the Baseball America list, that AA catcher Anderson De La Rosa, 26, probably re-upped with the Brewers for a pretty amazing 10th season. The Brewers just love those "De Los" and "De La" players, up to six now in the system.

We can also surmise at this point that Mike Ramlow and Rolando Pascual were former Brewers probably as early as last spring training, but no formal word came of it.

FOLLOW-UP:

We managed to nail this portion of the list exactly, as it turns out. Looks like we can take on this exercise in future years as well with hopefully similar accurate results.

Good luck to all the former Brewers in their future baseball endeavors.

Baseball America's updated list of where free agent Brewer farmhands landed this past winter

Thought RHP's Tim Dillard and Josh Butler might have landed minor league deals elsewhere; RHP Evan Anundsen, a seven-year farmhand drafted out of high school, is still just 24 -- if his velocity had dropped as much as we'd heard, his vacancy sign might be understood; infielder and longtime Cardinals property Domnit Bolivar won't be 24 until May; Erick Almonte played winter ball but talked of retirement last season; RHP's Brian Baker and Vinnie Chulk have not found new homes, Chulk had tweeted in December about hoping to land with the Marlins, but apparently not.

Utility man Juan Sanchez, listed as unsigned at the link, did find independent league work.
