I got curious when Rock mentioned how Augustine 'owned' Reggie Jackson. I looked it up on BB-Reference, genuinely interested to see how well Augustine had held down Mr. October.

Ok, so now I just realized that Rock was probably only remembering what he'd seen (as a Brewers player) of Augie v. Jackson. Which was basically one season (1983; just 2 PAs btw. the two in '84), and all of 8 PAs (.333/.500/.333/.833 line). So I guess what he meant to say was that, in one season, Augie held Jackson to two singles in 8 PAs.

Really too bad that one bad start can do that to the kid.

One bad start can do that to any pitcher over half or even a full season. Your ERA will go up about 0.25 if you have one 5 run game in a season where you pitch 180 innings.

I think you have it completely backwards. They've been outscored by 10 runs for the whole year. This team is not that bad at all. I think they have simply under performed and should be expected to be better going forward.

 

But if you think they haven't hit the proverbial bottom, I will be happy to take the over on their current win %
