Milwaukee Bucks 2012/2013

Jabbar seems to have mellowed with age, but he had difficulty relating to players even when he was one. He's openly campaigned for coaching gigs before, but never gotten serious consideration for whatever reason. I highly doubt that he will get an opportunity at his age.

He has virtually zero coaching experience. And while a few guys have done it, they were much younger and thought of as "smart players", like Doc Rivers and Avery Johnson. He's been out of the NBA for way too long, is too old and forced his way out of Milwaukee - and some great teams here. No thanks.

He wants to be an assistant, sure, no problem. Head coach? I'll pass.

Nothing says get fans to the Bradley Center like hiring a guy who wanted out of the city 40 years ago.

I doubt anyone that still holds that grudge follows the Bucks.

3 over...much better than 3 under...Getting to the #7 will at least make the first round interesting. Pulling out the win in last night's game (even though the Kings are bad) should be of some credit to Boylan.

The Kings are bad, but we were without 2 starters and Redick. Getting the win was a huge thing, especially with some tough games coming up here soon. Need all 3 of those guys to get healthy in a hurry.

Man did that get close at the end though, seems like the Bucks relaxed and it almost burned them.

Still a game and a half out of the 7 seed, behind Atlanta and Boston. 2 games behind Chicago.

Big game for the Bucks tonight, if they want to catch the Hawks they pretty much have to win tonight and Saturday against them. While March has been rather cold around here Monta Ellis is on fire hitting 53% of his shots and scoring 26 points a game and still managing six assists.

I think they are pretty much locked into the 8th seed now. Will they win one game against the Heat or better yet will the games even be competitive. Was giving up on Harris really worth this?

This offseason will be a very important one for the Bucks; they can spend tons of money on Redick, Ellis, and/or Jennings and stay mediocre or they can just let them go and rebuild. I think everyone knows which way they are going to go.

I'm not sure letting all their best players go is a great idea.

If they let Jennings, Ellis and Redick leave, they'd still have their two best players: Illyasova and LARRY SANDERS!.

If they let them all walk though there is nothing really to rebuild with. They would have Henson, Sanders and a middle of the round pick in a poor draft. If they would have kept Harris and Lamb it would be possible, especially if they drafted a point guard but I think the trade prevented any sort of rebuild.

You rebuild by collecting assets, which include young players cap space and high draft picks (see Houston). To rebuild, you don't sign over paid middle of the road veterans to high dollar contracts. Those are the guys you sign as the final piece to the puzzle, not the first piece. (See Salmons, John; Gooden, Drew; Ellis, Monta; Jennings, Brandon)

I'd commit to Ellis. Now I'm not a "blow it up guy", but I could see starting with Ellis, Sanders, Ersan, Henson and go from there. I'd suggest that we have a core that really could do something.

That is what rebuilding is but like I said not what they plan on doing after the trade they made.

Harris with 30 last night and 29 the game before. It makes me so sad because they had him and it is really the only way for them to get a star but they made the horrible decision to not play him and then dump him.

Harris can score, that's never been in question. The question is whether he can play defense.

His last two games have been against Washington and Charlotte; I imagine this late in the season with neither team having any playoff chances that there isn't a lot of effort being put into defense. He had a decent game against Miami, but against OKC in a close game he was 3-17, fouled out, and had three turnovers. Against the Knicks he had 5 turnovers, against Indiana he was 3-13, and against the Bucks he fouled out in 32 minutes. He seems to be racking up the big games against bad teams with nothing to play for, but isn't quite so good against the good teams.

Daniels isn't a good comparison; Daniels has been playing SF lately because LRMAM is injured and because Daniels is a better defensive player than Dunleavy. Daniels got minutes in December by default when Udrih was injured, but they were at SG not SF. Look at the game logs; when LRMAM was healthy and the Bucks had healthy backup guards Daniels got very few minutes.

As I've said earlier in this post, I'm not going to sweat Harris until he shows that he can put together this good play for an entire season. It's pretty common for bad teams to play no defense whatsoever at this point in the season, so I'm not going to put too much stock in a small number of games.

He has a 55% TS this season. That's higher than anyone on the Bucks except Dalembert and Dunleavy. Kid can score. Period. Also, he's 20. He's 2 years younger than Henson and 3 younger than Jennings, and people still expect both of them to get better.

He's also averaging 16 and 7 boards since going to Orlando. The list of 20 year olds who have done that is... well.... short.

I think the benefit of giving your first round pick a legit chance is way more important than getting a few more wins to secure the 8th seed, or even just moving up to the 7th seed. It's not often you find a player like Tobias Harris, he is a very natural scorer who has very good size and athleticism, and is a super hard worker, that has very good character. I usually try to look at the bright side of things, but in my opinion there was zero bright side to that trade.
