Well to start he's going to be playing 3B because Wilson Betemit is garbage. It will be interesting, however, to see how long the O's hold onto Hardy if Machado does well as I doubt they are going to move Machado to third semi-permanently.

Betemit's a decent offensive player, his Zips projection is .258/.318/.417. He's a pretty horrible defender as far as I know.

 

From what I gather, Machado is a very good defensive SS, correct? He's not exactly tearing up AA right now (~.775 OPS), but apparently he plays in a pitcher-friendly park in a pitcher-friendly league.

 

I'm not sure I see the need to rush him if he's going to be at 3B, because I don't think his bat will even be league-average right now.
