I really do believe that in this age where so much of the public perception of sports comes from watching on TV, and where so many get as much enjoyment out of thinking about/analyzing sports from an executive perspective, we forget just how intensely physical these games are at their core, especially for younger folks who have grown up in the video game age. Not everybody is able to get down really close at pro or high-level amateur games, but I wish sometimes that people would take greater advantage of going to see high school sports and DIII college stuff.

I've been hit in the left elbow (RH hitter) by a 91 mph fastball. It hurts, but what was worse was losing the feeling in my hand, it didn't feel normal for about two weeks. You could clearly see the seams of the ball on my elbow though, which was cool.

 

Then in playing major men's fastpitch softball, I was hit with a low-eighties mph drop ball in the right shin following a home run. That happened in 1998. I have permanent nerve damage and it still doesn't look "normal."

i took a foul ball line drive at close range in the chest during a baseball game about ten years ago...it left a huge bruise and knocked me flat...hurt worse than being drilled in the back with a 90 mph fastball, which has happened to me a few times...from coaching girls fastpitch, ive also been hit about everywhere, but nothing beats the baseball in the chest

Nothing compared to losing game 7 of the NLCS or game 7 of the World Series.
