My Brother Wrote a Book: Murder in Wauwatosa

Hey people. My brother recently published a book about the murder of a young boy in Wauwatosa back in the 20's. The parents of the murdered child (case never solved by the way) ended up moving to a different part of Wauwatosa and then sold that house to my parents. Our "quirky" neighbor lady was the first to clue us in on the death of the young boy. So we have sort of a personal connection to the story beyond growing up in the same general neighborhood where everything took place. If this sort of thing interests you, check it out:

I would be really interested to know how he researched the book....my great uncle was murdered in 1919 and I always wanted to research that case for a book as well.

It started out with a Google News search. He found a bunch of newspaper headlines from the Milwaukee Journal that were online. From there it was off to the Wauwatosa Historical Society, Milwaukee Public library, Wauwatosa Police, etc. etc. Found some relatives of the deceased (not sure how...maybe Ancestry.com?) and went from there.

How's this for coincidence: with several hours to kill yesterday between the season seat holder luncheon and the evening Brewers game, we landed at Mayfair Mall for a little while, and I noticed this book on display at Barnes & Noble. You should have had your brother identify himself as "Homer's Brother" so it would jump out at me more, because I'm not usually drawn to true crime books. ;)

More seriously, that's the kind of thing my library collects. If you think he would like some contact information for our acquisitions staff, send me a PM.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Had I run into the book the way you did, "Wauwatosa" would have been what jumped out at me and caused me to take a look.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

My parents took a picture of said display at Barnes and Noble. I'm sure my dad told everyone walking by that his son wrote a book.
