Once again this season, Brevard does not have its own audio coverage. There are no Florida State League games on MiLB.TV this year.

Wow, I never noticed that 1) the Cerveceritos only play four teams, and 2) that they play them in the same repeating order.

v. Angels: 4-7

v. Blue Jays: 6-5

v. Braves: 6-6

v. Tigers: 5-6

The only thing that really stood out to me is that the Cerveceritos were 5-1 against the Blue Jays in June, but have lost four of the last five meetings.

From the Stars:

Khris Davis Named Southern League Hitter of the Week

Five Home Runs in Five Games Powers Outfielder to Weekly Honors

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – There are a few things that will get you Hitter of the Week honors in the Southern League. One of them is hitting four home runs in four consecutive days. Huntsville Stars outfielder Khris Davis did just that and earned Southern League Hitter of the Week honors for July 23-29.

During that six game span, the 24-year-old hit .545 (12-for-22) with two doubles, four home runs, nine RBIs and seven runs scored. He walked four times and struck out seven. The outfielder had tied the Stars franchise record of five consecutive games with home runs from July 21 – 27. He was one game shy of tying the Southern League record of six consecutive games set by Derrick Lee in 1996. He currently has a 13-game hitting streak.

Davis is batting .383 (49-for-128) in 44 games for the Stars this season. He had nine doubles, eight home runs and 23 RBIs. He spent two separate stints on the disabled list this season, the first from May 7 (retroactive to May 6) – June 4 and the second from June 9 (retroactive to June 7) – July 9.

(and that gets you a well-deserved promotion to Nashville...)

Coming into tonight's game, AZL 3B Taylor Smith-Brennan was batting .103, with a .366 OBP. 82 plate appearances, 6 hits (1 HR), 23 walks, 27 strike outs. It's bizzaro 3TO!

Nick Bucci up to 5 innings tonight with the Baby Brewers, good ones too. Gotta think he's close to done with his rehab assignment.

Anybody know what the club record for Hr's is for the Stars since the Crew took over?

Hunter Morris with 20...and a month to go

Brendan Katin - 24 back in 2007

Matt LaPorta had 20 in 84 games the year he was traded. Cringed looking at that lineup and seeing Angel Salome's line (.360/.415/.559). Oh what might have been....

Maysonet Delivers Walk-Off RBI Single In 4-3 Win

Gindl Homers; Vargas Tosses Quality Start

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Edwin Maysonet hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Nashville Sounds a 4-3 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes on Monday night at Greer stadium.

The last at-bat victory was Nashville's 15th of the season, which also snapped a four-game losing streak.

With the scored tied at 3-3 entering the bottom of the ninth, outfielder Khris Davis worked a leadoff walk, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, advanced to third on a infield groundout, and came home on Maysonet's hit to score the game-winning run in his Sounds debut.

AUDIO: Maysonet Game-Winning Hit

Albuquerque jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Elian Herrera opened the contest with a soft line drive single. The shortstop moved to second on a groundout, advanced to third on a fly out, and scored on Jerry Sands RBI single.

Nashville quickly went ahead in the next inning, beginning with a double down the third base line by second baseman Eric Farris. Next batter Caleb Gindl then jacked his eighth homer of the season over the right field wall.

AUDIO: Caleb Gindl Homer

The Isotopes tied the game at 2-2 in the visiting half of the third thanks to a Tim Federowicz RBI double.

Both teams traded runs in the seventh. Tyler Henson began the frame with a leadoff walk, moved to third on a couple of infield groundouts, and scored on a soft flair to the outfield by Elian Herrera.

Jordan Brown began the bottom of the seventh with a leadoff walk, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, advanced to third on a bunt combined with a fielding error, and scored as pinch hitter Sean Halton hit a deep sacrifice fly to center.

Nashville starter Claudio Vargas pitched a quality start in a no-decision, allowing three runs on eight hits in seven innings of work.

Fautino De Los Santos pitched a scoreless frame in his Sounds debut. With runners on first and second and no outs, Juan Perez (2-0) escaped a jam for a scoreless ninth for the victory.

Albuquerque starter Fernando Nieve struck out a season-high eight batters in seven innings while giving up three runs (two earned) in a no-decision. Luis Vasquez (0-1) took the loss.

The Sounds conclude their homestand and wrap up their season series with the Isotopes at 7:05 pm CT on Tuesday night at Greer Stadium. Right-hander Wily Peralta (6-9, 4.92) makes the start for Nashville against Albuquerque righty Will Savage (10-4, 5.47).

Nashville Box Score

The Sounds scored their 4 runs on just 5 hits, that's about as efficient as it gets. In fact Nashville was out hit 9-5 in the game. I refuse to believe Claudio Vargas pitched in this game because it was over in under 3 hours, I used to make a sandwich between his pitches. On a serious note he's had 3 pretty good starts in a row and 4 out of the last 5 have been good. The stuff before that... well, it wasn't good. Still if he ever starts another game for the Brewers I might have to commit hara-kiri, I don't mind him in the bullpen but there are just plenty of other options both starting and relieving that I'd like to entertain before recycling Claudio back to the active roster. However, he's been very solid as of late and I won't take that away from him. I didn't realize Fautino De Los Santos' ERA was over 7 for the season, but it's nice that he got off to a good start for Nashville. I did catch up and read that trade thread, he's an interesting "flyer". Juan Perez has also been very effective in AAA, but he's just never gotten an extended look in MLB, though he's had his fair share of poor MiLB seasons.

Khris Davis continued his hitting ways going 1-3 with the walk mentioned above.

Final: Wisconsin 7, Clinton 0

Rattlers shutout Clinton to wrap successful road trip

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

CLINTON, IA - Matt Miller and Stephen Peterson combined on a seven-hit shutout at Clinton on Monday night at Ashford University Field. Nick Ramirez contributed three RBI, including a two-run homer, in the 7-0 win over the LumberKings.

Max Walla hit a solo homer with one out in the top of the first inning to give the Rattlers (62-43 overall, 18-18 second half) a 1-0 lead. The home run was the 27th hit by the Timber Rattlers this month.

The LumberKings (45-60, 21-15) almost answered in the bottom of the first inning against Miller. Ji-Man Choi singled to left with one out and Chris Taylor at second. Taylor attempted to score, but left fielder Ben McMahan threw out Taylor at the plate for the second out of the inning. The assist was the eleventh of the season for McMahan.

Wisconsin padded their lead in the third. Brandon Macias drove in two runs with a double in the top of the third inning. One out later Ramirez lined a two-run homer to left-center and the Rattlers were up 5-0.

Miller tossed six scoreless innings and scattered five hits. He worked around two walks and struck out three batters.

Wisconsin added two more runs in the top of the eighth inning. Chadwin Stang started the inning with an infield single. That hit extended Stang's hitting streak to 14 games. He would take third on an errant pickoff throw. Later in the inning he would score on a throwing error on a play at second base.

Ramirez knocked in the final run of the game with a single. Ramirez drove in seven runs in the final two games at Clinton to give him 55 for the season.

Peterson worked the final three innings in a scoreless fashion to record his third save of the season.

The Timber Rattlers wrapped up their six game road trip to Kane County and Clinton with a 5-1 record.

The Timber Rattlers return home to start a four game series with the Burlington Bees on Tuesday night at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Chad Pierce (4-3, 3.35) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Left-hander Chris Lamb (0-0, 5.59) is set to start for the Bees. Game time is 7:05pm.

A Chad Pierce poster will be given away to the first 1,000 fans to attend the game. This is poster number eight in a series of ten that are being given away this season. A stress ball from Cars.com will also be given away to the first 1,000 to attend Tuesday's game.

Tuesday is an American TV Tuesday presented by 103.9 WVBO. One fan in attendance will win a 32" flat-screen TV from American TV of Appleton.

If you can't make it out to the game, tune in for the broadcast on AM1280, WNAM or timberrattlers.com starting with the Miller Lite Pregame Show at 6:45pm.

HOME RUNS:

Nick Ramirez (13th, 1 on in 3rd inning off Seon-Gi Kim, 2 out)

WP: Matt Miller (9-7)

LP: Seon-Gi Kim (2-3)

SAVE: Stephen Peterson (3)

TIME: 2:36

Wisconsin Box Score

What a well pitched game for the Rattlers. That's their second shutout in the last 5 games. Matt Miller is quietly having a pretty solid season. As a 23 year old, repeating Low-A, he should have success and he has lately. Since the All-Star break he is 4-2 with a 3.20 ERA. I'd still like to see more consistency out of him, but that's three really good starts he's strung together now. Tonight he threw six shutout innings, giving up five hits. Stephen Peterson pitched the finals three innings and was just as good, giving up only two hits. Peterson has allowed just one run in his last six outings.

Offensively it was Nick Ramirez leading the charge, homering for the second straight game. He went 2-4 and knocked in three runs. Max Walla was 1-3 with a walk and hit his 6th home run of the season. Brandon Macias was on base twice with a double and a walk. He had 2 RBI and scored two T-Rats runs. Yadiel Rivera was 1-3 with a walk and Chadwin Stang had a single and a walk. Defensively Ben McMahan threw out a Clinton runner at the plate.

Brevard County 5 Jupiter (Marlins) 4 F/11

Box Score

The Manatees kicked off a very solid early evening for my teams after a short delay. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Reggie Keen (3-6 SB (37) CS (18)) induced a throwing error on his infield GB allowing Parker Berberet (1-4 BB) to come around and score the winning run.

Drew Gagnon (22) started and he was very good. His line; 7 IP 6 H 3 R 2 ER 1 BB 4 K 7:6 GO:FO. The BB's and BAA have both gone up since the promotion, but the age appropriate Gagnon continues to find success in general. Eric Arnett gave up a run in 1 IP then Casey Medlen and Greg Holle divvied up the final 3 innings holding Jupiter scoreless in the process.

2010 32nd round pick Jason Rogers was unstoppable with 3 H, including a HR, and a BB. The slugging is down in A+, but Rogers continues to post ~.400 OBP and a ~.300 AVG. 2010 42nd round pick John Dishon finished 1-3 with a BB and his 11th steal at BC and 22nd on the year.

The two best prospects in the Marlins lineup, Marcell Ozuna and Christina Yelich, finished 1-9 with a BB on the night.

Game Log

3 perfect innings for Gagnon including his final 2.

A 2-out bottom of the 11th walk-off error by the SS.

Helena 5 Missoula (D'Backs) 4

Box Score

This game should not have ended this close. On two occasions in the bottom of the 8th, the Brewers had what appeared to be strike-3's looking. Both times, the ump did not call it. Steve stated that the strike zone appeared to get squeezed late in the game. So annoying. Then, with 2 outs and the tying run on 3rd, a curve ball headed for Socrates Brito's head instead hit his still cocked bat and went fair down the 1st base line where an easy out was made. Crazy.

Leonard Lorenzo was dominant in this one. 5 IP 2 H 1 R 1 ER 2 BB 7 K 1 WP 1 HBP 3:2 GO:FO. Lorenzo is certainly on course for a full season assignment next season. On one particularly nice instinctual play, Lorenzo pick off the runner and without making a throw, he retired the runner unassisted. Steve was impressed. Taylor Mangum pitched much better than his line as he suffered the collateral damage from the 8th inning. He also drew praise for his hard, sharp slider. Connor Whalen allowed 2 Mangum runners to score and Mike White got the 1-out save.

Ruben Ozuna had a good game going 1-3 with a BB. He also reached on an error, stole 2nd, stole 3rd, and then took home on the overthrow into LF. The rare no hit, no walk inning that leads to a run. Adam Giacalone stays red-hot with 2 BB on a 1-2 night. 9-hitter Andres Martinez went 2-4 with a SB.
