Glad to see the bullpen wanted to show Mark the same respect they have shown the veteran starters all year! Nothing like giving away the lead he built up to show him he is part of the team

I was at the game behind the dish. Rogers looked good. I was just telling a coworker weeks ago that the Brewers need to bring up Rogers and he needs to dump or get of the pot. He's been in the farm system since 2005. He's always had big upside, but injuries and bad play have always held him back.

Keep him in rotation for rest of year I say (hope). Marcum on the 60 DL now so he's likely done for the year.

I'm curious to see how many innings they let Rogers throw this year. His career high was 116, 2 years ago. That's the only time he's thrown over 100 innings. He's at 101 now. Certainly looks like Peralta and Thornburg should be getting plently of starts in September.

I think he'll pitch the rest of the year, he'll get around 150/160 IP

Not true. That 60 day DL was backdated so I believe he's eligible to come off in mid-August. He even pitched a 20 min bullpen session today.

This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

yeah, I was wrong on that. I saw "60 day DL" on twitter and made that post shortly after. My bad. Marcum is actually headed towards a minor league rehab assignment as long as his simulated game goes good.

Keep Rogers in rotation, bump Wolf to pen? If anything due season being over and we need to see what we have for next year?

I'm seeing 125 IPs 2 years ago. In that case, I would push him to around 150 this season.

Most everyone in baseball is put on revocable waivers every year just to see who gets through. I'm sure Wolf will be put on waivers and I doubt anyone will claim him. If they do, we just let them have him for salary relief. If not, we hope he can put together a couple of good starts, so that if a starter goes down for a contender, they may think Wolf is good enough to take his salary off our hands.

Keep Rogers in rotation, bump Wolf to pen?

That's probably the plan if Marcum comes back mid-to-late August. Whether it's the 'pen or an outright release, if no one has had any interest in Wolf by then, then there is no reason for us to keep giving Wolf starts. They'd be much better served giving the starts to Rogers to see if he's a viable option for the 2013 Opening Day rotation and to Marcum to see if he's healthy, as we may bring him back on a one-year deal. The September rotation should be Gallardo, Marcum (if healthy), Estrada, Fiers, Rogers. If anyone is going to bump any of the aforementioned players, it should be Peralta or Thornburg, not Wolf.

Question for anyone who may know: Could Marcum, who is currently on the DL, be placed on revocable waivers so that we could trade him late August if he is able to come back and make a couple of healthy starts?

I think the rule is that 7 players can be placed on waivers per day, per team. So there's a chance that a lot of our players already passed through. I'm not sure if players on the DL can or not though. May have to wait until Marcum is activated to try passing him through.

pretty sure you cant put a player on DL on waivers, just like you can't trade aplayer on the DL. so marcum, and anyone else thats hurt, cant go through waivers until they're re-instated

I am going to be very upset if Rogers gets bumped from the rotation once Marcum comes back. The way he is pitching, he's earned a longer shot. He may be a key to success next season and he needs to get the work now. Randy Wolf should be bumped to the pen. Heck I'd even be ok with a 6 man rotation. But Rogers needs to keep starting.

I'm mainly happy to see that Rogers is throwing strikes instead of piling up walks.

While health has clearly been the biggest problem for him in his pro career, his inability to consistently throw strikes has been a pretty close second.

I would doubt it, they are out of time with him from an options standpoint and he's physically mature, if they are going to push him, this is the year. If he was flat out dominant he'd only pitch about 40 more innings, he won't even crack 180 innings this season, though he's already pitched more than he ever had before.

I just don't think at 26 years old they can afford to mess around with innings because of his age and option situation. If he was 21-23 I'd absolutely worry about an inning count.
