Now that we moved Zack will there be anyone else?

Not sure who Zach is but they did move Zack. Still not sure how fans keep making these mistakes.

It takes everything I can to hold in my rage when I read about the desire to "resign" someone.

I think the most logical thing is to look at Corey Hart. If we aren't going to be in it next year, now (or in the offseason) would be the time to unload Hart. Maybe to the Dodgers for Zach Lee and a couple other prospects... We'd probably be looking at a .500 at best season next year but would have a large wave of prospects that should be ready for 2014.

I don't think Melvin will do it, but I think the Brewers could get really good value for Aramis Ramirez right now.

I don't think they will either, but I wish they would. I think it's going to be one of those things they sit on, miss the boat, and regret it. I think having that extra financial flexibility the next 2 years will be worth a lot more than having Ramirez for 2 more years. Trouble is, they won't do it because they have no adequate replacement for him and would be right back looking in free agency. Not saying that's the right rationale, but I think that's going to be their mindset.

At this point, I'm not sure that the organization sees Green as more than a career backup infielder at the MLB level. They might be right, quite frankly.

Take advantage of A-Ram's good hitting and trade him. It would be nice to get more young pitching and a 3b prospect while getting rid of his big contract. Then you can make a run at some free agents this summer(Zack).

1. Morgan.... Schafer

2. A-Ram........Green

3. Hart......already have Aoki, but also Gindl

4. Kotteras......already have MM

We won't get much for 1 and 4 but we are not giving up that much. 2 and 3 could bring back much need players for 2014 and beyond.

If we keep Hart.....I think we need to look for a solid Stater in the offseason. I dont know who will be available, but it seems like there always is someone. If you have Braun, Weeks, Lucroy, Aram, and Hart you better find some pitching to go with Gallardo.

Losing the contracts of Grienke, Wolf, Krod, and Marcum should free us enough cash to get one or two middle of the rotation guys. Maybe Marcum comes back on a 1 year deal, but there still is enough to add one.

Will the team be favored to win the Central? No, but anything can happen if Marcum would have a healthy year, Filers can continue to pitch well, and Peralta/Thornberg can be a 5th starter. Add Narveson to the pen and go from there.

If Gamel can heal well enough to play 1b or OF we have another bat.

Although we lost Grienke, this team does have enough talent that we should reload....not rebuild.

They really shouldn't be counting on Gindl being an every day player. At least I hope they're not.

After a horrible start, Gindl has hit .333 in July with a .915 OPS. He's only 23. I don't know if they are counting on him to be an every day player but it is certainly too early to give up on him. He has pretty dramatic lefty-righty splits this year: hitting .287 vs RHP, .197 vs LHP, and he may end up being a valuable platoon player in MLB

I think we have the kind of outfield situation, other than Braun, where we should Earl Weaver the thing -- have Schafer, Aoki, Gindl, and Gomez on the roster, and slot them into different matchups with all four getting comparable PT until / unless somebody makes the case to play every day. Among the four of them, they have a great range of skills. I doubt RR could make this arrangement work, but I think it could work.

Green . . . yeah, maybe Green is a backup. But would this ever be the perfect time to start him for two months, or even soft platoon him, and see what you have. It isn't like his minor league numbers or his scouting reports are conclusive at all. Trade Ramirez, let Green play some meaningless games, see how he does, and patch with a cheap fix if he doesn't work out.

Or wait until Monday and see if Texas will come crawling back to give us Olt for Wolf. We could even throw in Wolf's catching attachment, Kottaras (usually sold separately).

On Hart, doesn't DM have a thing about preferring to trade position players in the offseason? With Hart I can see the logic for that. With Ramirez his trade value seems like it will diminish more rapidly, so there's a better argument for taking advantage of contenders' desperation and pushing to move him now.

Well, Roenicke is certainly very familiar with Earl Weaver's concepts, as his brother Gary Roenicke was a huge part of the Orioles outfield platoons once upon a time.

Add Khris Davis to the mix, that kid is straight up tearing up AA ball right now, batting over .350 and hitting over .500 this season vs LHP!

I think Doug was focused on getting the Greinke deal hammered out. Now that it's done, I think we'll see him make some more moves. Probably won't involve Hart or Ramirez, but I could see others going. Kottaras for sure obviously, and hopefully we can somehow get rid of Wolf, K-Rod, and Morgan. Getting rid of anyone else from the pen will be pretty tough. I think we gotta hope K-Rod gets a few appearances over the weekend and does well, and then we can trade him right before the deadline.

Both great points. How could I forget the Gary-Ron connection there? Now that you say that, the Gomez-Morgan platoon looks like RR's most creative managerial move last year; maybe his brother's experience with Weaver inspired him. As for Kh Davis, heck yes, and Ke Davis is making a little noise two. Both of those guys, plus Hunter Morris, should be no more than a phone call away next year, and depending on who else gets moved, Morris or Kh Davis could make the team out of camp.
