Teams interested in Parra and Loe

I wonder if we could combine the two for someone that a team is sour on. I've always wanted to take a flyer on Sanchez and Guthrie recent years, but this probably wouldn't be the year to do that. Maybe we could get Jurjjens for the pair if we take on his salary and Atlanta decides they are better with him out of their rotation after yesterdays bad outing?

Bullpen arms are fluid. They'll be great and then they'll be horrible. Still, I'd trade a pair of them for a starter that we could control next year that has 2/3 potential but looks busted. Jurjjens is the name I threw out there, though I'd have accepted Sanchez/Guthrie if either had a year of control next year.

Referring to Jurrjens, Guthrie, Sanchez.....I wouldn't have interest in any of those guys right now. Based on what they are making, I'd be willing to bet that all three will be non-tendered this winter, and will be available on the cheap come next spring. I'm not sure that I'd give any of them more than a NRI at this point though.

Each of them will probably earn around $3MM next year in arby, so there's a good chance that any or all of them would be non-tendered this offseason. If we can find teams looking for a veteran bullpen presence for the playoff run who would be willing to trade us a young guy in AAA who projects as a middle reliever, I'd be all over it. Future teams would certainly benefit from having decent middle relievers making league minimum.

I've always held out hope for Parra, but if there's a chance to trade him, now is the time. Otherwise you go into the offseason with him (I believe) arb-eligible and out of options. Come next spring, paying for Manny's potential gets costly.

He's actually pitching fairly well recently - only one hit over his last 8 appearances.

I was actually pondering if we go the direction of selling, we may want to give Parra one last chance at starting.

Also, it would probably be hard to move Marcum. He may struggle in free agency. So we may be able to retain him on a 1-2 yr deal.

Loe should be moved for sure.

JohnBriggs -- I love "Jesus (Saves) Sanchez." When I read it, I mentally pronounce the nickname like "sah-vez." If he sticks as a closer, it becomes one of the best nicknames of all time.

DHonks -- I am not sure of many things in this life, but one of them is that -- barring a radical transformation -- Manny Parra shouldn't be a starter. His numbers as a reliever vs. starting are stark, and he was terrible after his first time through the lineup, IIRC. But as a reliever, he's certainly the one guy I'd be somewhat tempted to keep and pay, out of the names we're tossing around.

I like the idea of trading bullpen guys if we can get something useful back, but I have one note of caution. If you completely gut the bullpen, you still have to finish the season. You don't want to rush guys to the majors, and somebody has to pitch the innings. You just need to have a coherent plan if you're going to go that route. But I doubt we could get a worthwhile return for all four of Rodriguez, Parra, Loe, and Veras anyway.

What are these guys waiting for make a move guys.

You realize that just because something is rumored doesnt mean it is true right? Also why would Melvin be quick to make a trade before checking to see if another team will offer something more?

Maybe off-topic, but I hope we can find a way to keep Marcum on a short-term deal. I much prefer him at 2 years/$22MM or so vs Greinke at 5 year/$115MM.

I agree, but it would probably be a good opportunity to give some of our prospects some MLB innings. Stetter, Sanchez, McClendon and Henderson have been mentioned, and I'll throw Rogers' name in there as well. Plus, as I mentioned earlier, we could probably find some teams who have young guys with good arms that would rather have someone with MLB experience for the playoff run. I'd gladly trade some of our bullpen arms for "unproven" young AAA relievers who could get some experience with the 2012 Brewers and help us out for quite a few years.

So, we all want our bullpen guys gone, why, because they have sucked hard and bad all season.

What on earth makes anyone think that other teams would want our crap?

Seriously, the guys being mentioned here are partly to blame for our demise, you don't think other GMs can't smell a crap sandwich when it is waved under thier noses?

Parra and Loe were brought up in reference to a blurb on MLBtraderumors that teams were showing interest in them. It wasn't from out of the blue.

Veras mentioned earlier too. K-Rod Axford as well.

I just don't think that there is anyone in our bullpen that could bring us anything in value... They have not performed well enough for us to think a team with a shot at the playoffs would want any of them for the stretch run.
