Jeremy Guthrie for Jonathan Sanchez

Recommended Posts

The Rockies must have wanted to dump a bit of salary. I see no other reason to trade anything for Sanchez when he almost certainly would have been available for free in a couple of days. Guthrie might be OK in Kansas City, but I shudder to think how bad Sanchez will be in Colorado.

wow does that Sanchez for Melky trade look bad

Remember when the Yankees were going to trade us Melky for the final year of Cameron, and Melvin hung up the phone because Cashman wanted the Brewers to pick up some salary? We all laughed at the time.

Sabean often catches a lot of flack and if my memory is correct, many baseball fans thought the Melky/Sanchez trade was another dumb move by him, but it's turned out to be an absolute steal for him.

Sabean certainly has made his share of head scratching moves over the years, but IMO his overall track record as a GM in regards to wins/losses and a title is better than the amount heat he's gotten for the poor moves he's made.

Yep. Melky didnt really looking a starting caliber OF until last year and even that seemed like a fluke. I remember thinking the Royals made a good trade

No doubt about it. He was pretty consistently mocked on here.

I'm also remember how Lincecum was a health risk and a terrible pick.

Funny thing, he keeps doing a pretty good job with that team.
