OGDEN - The Ogden Raptors allowed a season-high 16 hits in a 9-8 loss to the Helena Brewers Sunday at Lindquist Field.

Helena designated hitter Tyrone Taylor hit two home runs in a 3-for-4 day for the Brewers. Taylor hit a solo shot to center in the fourth and a two-run homer in the eighth off the top of the wall in left.

At the plate for the Raptors, Jeremy Rathjen and Pat Stover hit three singles each, and Eric Smith and Devin Shines each finished with two.

The Raptors threw six pitchers Sunday. Michael Drowne, Craig Stem and Scott Griggs each had scoreless outings. Starter Derek Cone allowed five runs, four earned, in 2.2 innings.

The Raptors tied a season-high, committing five errors Sunday. Alex Santana made three errors, and Malcolm Holland and Shines each made one.

The Raptors and Brewers will continue their four-game series Monday. Carlos Frias will be on the mound for the Raptors against Helena's Ryan Gibbard. Game starts at 7:00 and can be heard on 97.5 Fox Sports Radio.

There's really still not any top-tier prospects in the Brewers' system, but man do I feel a helluva lot better about the farm system than I did just one year ago at this point.

I wonder if Prince perhaps made a diving catch attempt on the triple and missed? Just a guess; hopefully we can get some more info on his status soon.

This link includes the game summary from Huntsville staff. The video includes brief highlights, including Prince chasing down the triple to the wall, hard to tell if he tweaked something on the play.

Also note that Hunter Morris was named the June Minor League Player of the Month in the organization.

The ninth inning error by Rivera, should of been kept an error. Typical home team official scorer padding offensive stats. Obviously there needs to be an official scorer school where they learn, what is a hit and what is an error. Midwest league official scorers are the worst.

Why? Explain the play? What he going behind second, in the hole and didn't come up with it cleanly? What are the circumstances.

Fwiw, radio guy Chris Mehring agreed with dacbrewers in the updated game recap.

Routine ground ball straight at him, that he booted, the runner from second ran in front of him while going to third. You still need to make that play. How can you classify that as a hit? I have seen this happen a lot this year and it hurts our pitching staff's numbers. Rivera has made some outstanding plays at shortstop this year, but then he makes errors on the most routine play.

So it was basically the equivalent of screening Rivera on the play by the opposing runner? Those are incredibly difficult plays to make(if I'm understanding this right). You have a guy a couple feet in front of you as you try and field a little white ball smashed at you while playing SS?

Difficult, yes. But it is a play he should make every time.
