Whatever happened to...

TURBO

Michael Marseco and Robbie Garvey?

I can't find them on any of our minor league rosters, just curious where they ended up.

Thanks for the information...

Marseco played in Appleton for 2 seasons, a slick little fielder, but nothing with the bat... Just wondered where he ended up.

Diehards will remember 2008 30th round 3B/OF Wayne Dedrick, who played 46 games in Maryvale in 2009, then missed 2010 with a knee injury, and was suspended for a drug of abuse in 2011, never suiting up for the organization again.

But as the Huntsville Times' and our friend Mark McCarter documented, Dedrick is now doing well in life, in the classroom (studying Information Systems), and athletically (but on the basketball court) with Division II University of Alabama-Huntsville (which recently beat Div. I North Texas in the preseason NIT).

just curious, but has anyone heard if Brandon Katin was attempting to comeback from his knee surgery? He was a good organizational soldier, and has has as much power in the system as anyone since Nelson Cruz.

Robbie Garvey?

Cool story this week, as Garvey (stats), who saw action with Maryvale, Helena, and Wisconsin in 2010-2011 after signing with the Brewers as an undrafted free agent out of the College of Southern Nevada, signed with the Dodgers out of an open tryout camp.

Garvey, 24 in April, played independent ball last year.

Good for him.

Love to see ths type of update.

LHP Connor Whalen (stats), the undrafted 2011 signee who was released by the Crew last December, hooked up with the St. Paul Saints of the independent American Association this past January.

Not sure if it was a tryout camp or not, but today it was announced he was signed by the White Sox organization. Right back to affiliated ball, excellent, good luck to the young man.

Much too quickly, the White Sox released Whalen (within just ten days or so), and he returned to the Saints.

Jameson Dunn? I remember some injury troubles but missed any release/retirement news.

2011 stats for the undrafted free agent out of Oral Roberts (his age 24 rookie season)

Dunn was in the 2012 media guide, but not 2013. He missed 2012 still rehabbing a shoulder injury. You are correct, there was no official word on a departure from the organization, but he'd be 26 now. I did drop him from the Player Index.

On a related note, there is no player too obscure to mention on this forum. You diehards keep us on our toes, no doubt.

Two players released this offseason found work in the independent Frontier League today.

Soon-to-be 25-year-old 2006 4th round RHP Evan Anundsen (career stats), who spent seven seasons in the organization, joins the Joliet (IL) Jackhammers.

2012 Helena catcher Emmanuel Quiles (career stats), the former Padre farmhand, joined the Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, OH), where he'll have quite a Brewer reunion with IF Kevin Berard, UT Juan Sanchez, and LHP Del Howell.
