Dodgers interested in Aramis Ramirez

If Aramis doesn't have a no trade clause, and I don't think that he does, there's not a thing that he can do to block a trade. The way that he's swinging the bat as of late, I've got to think that he would have a decent degree of appeal. I've certainly moved past the train of thought that moving him would be solely a salary dump- meaning that I certainly wouldn't give him away.

He doesn't have a no trade clasu, and I agree there is nothing he can do to block a trade.

But, do you ever think another player will play for Milwaukee to be close to home or for the so called "home team discount". I believe its a gentelman's agreement type of thing.

Aramis will not be traded unless he wants to be. One of the reasons he signed with the Brewers is to be closer to home. Again, the Brewers would not trade him unless he wants to be or its the end of year 3.

Or if he wants to win. We were two games from the WS last year so I am guessing that had something to do with it. So he might be willing to get traded to a contender

Correct.

It wasn't a discount. They bid against themselves.

I wasn't insinuatiting that Ramirez was a home team discount. What will happen when Hart or Gallardo's contract will come up.

If Ramirez only had one year left the Yankees could be a potential landing place with ARod out for 2 months but I doubt they make the move for Ramirez since he had 2 more years. I dont see where he would fit next year on that team. I guess they could DH him

The Orioles have money and need a corner IF upgrade. They could be a trading partner.

With Hanley covering the 3B hole in LA, the Dodgers not interested in Aramis anymore (per twitter).

However, the Yankees are reportedly willing to do "whatever it takes" to land a solid 3B.

C'MON DOUG GIVE ARAMIS TO THE YANKS!

The main question is do they want a guy with 2 more years or are they looking for a rental? Where does Aramis play once ARod returns?

well, the yanks are hot on Headley now.

God I want to get rid of the next two years of Aramis deal so bad.

Headley is under control for 2 more years and is a lot cheaper so the Yankees would have to cough up a lot more. How about Headley to the Brewers, Ramirez to the Yankees, and the Brewers and Yankees each send a decent prospect to San Diego? (say Green for instance in the case of the Brewers).

Am I in the minority by saying I do not want to get rid or Ramirez?

We already lost Prince, replaced him with Aramis, who has more than earned his contract as of lately. Who on earth would we replace him with next year? Green? Please...

It feels like so many here are just trade-happy at the moment.

turbo,

I do not want to get rid of Ramirez because I think we would be a better team without him, I just don't see the Brewers being a competitive team in the next 2-3 years with him on the team, so what is the point of paying him? If we can get any sort of prospects and save the money, that is a win for the Brewers.

Also, it is way too early to write off Taylor Green at this point. Give him a chance to have some significant playing time in the majors before you say he can't play.

It's not about being trade happy, it's about having a long-term plan. I agree that Ramirez has been exactly what he should've been expected to be so far this season, and it's been nice to have him as a Brewer. But he's only getting older, and his trade value will never be higher than it is right now.

You don't worry about something like 'Well, who'll play 3B next season?' when you're trying to build for long-term success. And fwiw, yeah, I'd be fine with just letting Green play at 3B next season. I don't think he's a MLB-caliber starter, but he'd be fine as a stopgap.

I never said Green couldn't play, I have been saying alls eason that he needs more playing time to see what we have. Odds are, if we move Ramirez, we'll play some kind of a platoon at 3B, or play some over the hill FA guy that serves no purpose. It feels like the brewers are not very committed to Green, so to think he would start the season as our 3B seems like something this team won't be willing to do.
