Link Report for Tue. 7/10 -- Not Quite A Day Off, But Close As It Gets All Summer

Brewer Fanatic Staff

These two teams were rained out at the Jays' complex on last Thursday. It's more likely that the rainout will be made up next Tuesday the 17th.

But if you see that today's game only went seven innings, that means you'll find the other score here.

Final Game 1: DSL Blue Jays 4, DSL Brewers 1 (7 innings)

DSL Brewers Game 1 Box Score

Juan Santiago got the start in game 1 going 5 IP allowing 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, and a balk against 6 SO. Miguel Diaz pitched the final 2 innings allowing 2s across the board. edit. Both pitchers also picked off a base runner, completely forgot to mention it until I was doing the game 2 summary.

Carlos Belonis had a stellar first game going 3-3 with 3 singles and 3 stolen bases, no other Brewer hitter had multiple hits or an XBH. However Belonis was caught stealing home and picked off of 1st. Alejandro Mendoza stole a base of his own and of course added an error because with every positive in this first game came a negative.

Final Game 2: DSL Brewers 4, DSL Blue Jays 0 (7 Innings)

DSL Brewers Game 2 Box Score

Woohoo Gian Rizzo returns! It was a short outing though, only 2 innings, hopefully he's on his way back from a minor injury. 20 year old Eliezer Montano was pretty fantastic though pitching the final 5 scoreless innings allowing just 3 hits and 2 walks against 5 strike outs. Montano also picked off 2 base runners today, I love all of the pick offs coming out of our system this year, it must have been a huge point of emphasis through the spring.

The Brewer bats didn't do much until exploding in the 7th for the 4 runs which won the game. All 4 runs came on Alejandro Mendoza's GRAND SLAM! Raphachel Colatosti was the only hitter with a multi-hit game going 2-3 out of the 9th spot in the order, though he managed to get picked off of first. Carlos Belonis and Juan Ortiz both sole bases in the contest, the 19th and 7th respectively.
