Link Report for Mon. 7/9 - Burgos strong again, but with little support

JB12, you seem to think that I'm arguing a point with you... I'm not. I'm not sure why you're belaboring this.

The Brewers may have Burgos slated for 170-180 innings this year - that wouldn't shock me at all. Like I said, he pitched 137 innings a few years ago. They usually bump guys up 20-30 innings per year. With a fair amount of low stress innings, they may push him beyond 30 a little. They sort of did this with Anundsen a few years back (and then two years later he missed year and a half due to injury - surprise!).

Assuming he makes all his remaining starts for Huntsville and averages 6 innings a start, there's 170 innings right there. That's why they're limiting his innings a little now, so that they'll be able to control when he gets to that mark. In the AFL. In Milwaukee. In Lesotho. Wherever. I don't care about that part.

Oh, and Chris Sale pitched 113 innings two years ago, significantly more than the 71 IP number you provided.

What's the latest scouting report on Burgos? I don't seem to recall him having fireballer stuff... has he developed a devastating change and/or cutter? Did he learn a thing from Fiers about how to hide the ball? Not only is the sample size getting bigger, but it is continuing after making perhaps the biggest jump in the minors - from A+ to AA.
