Monday's Daily Menu:

All times are Central

Nashville: Idle for the AAA All-Star Break; we'll have game details Wednesday; Sounds return to regular season action on Thursday

**********

Huntsville: RHP Hiram Burgos at home vs. Jacksonville (Marlins), 6:28 PM pre-game, 6:43 gametime

Free Live Audio Link -- Select the Huntsville feed from the MiLB main audio page

Alex Cohen is the new play-by-play voice of the Stars; follow him on Twitter @alexmcohen. It's fantastic that Huntsville is returning to what will be a traditional broadcast format this year. All games, home and away, are scheduled to be broadcast.

MiLB.TV subsciption note: Huntsville road games in four locales (Mississippi, Tennessee, Jacksonville and Pensacola) will be broadcast.

**********

Brevard County: RHP Andy Moye at home vs. Clearwater (Phillies), 5:35 PM gametime

Sorry, no audio for this series...

Once again this season, Brevard does not have its own audio coverage. It appears two teams in the Manatees North Division (within which the majority of games are played) have audio, and all six teams in the South Division have audio (at least for their home games), so there will be opportunities to listen to approx. 70% or Brevard's games this season, just all from the opponent's perspective. There are no Florida State League games on MiLB.TV this year.

**********

Wisconsin: RHP David Goforth at home vs. Kane County (Royals), 11:45 AM pre-game, 12:05 PM gametime

Free Live Audio Link - 1280 AM WNAM

Chris Mehring is back to do his customary fantastic work as the Voice of the Rattlers. Follow him on Twitter @CMehring; we'll link to Chris' infamous blog often -- Rattler Radio.

MiLB.TV -- for subscribers; Wisconsin is one of only two (Great Lakes) Midwest League clubs that have all their home games available via MiLB.TV; Chris' call provides the audio. So for the $39.95 season-long package, fans in Brewer Nation can watch all Sounds games, all Timber Rattlers home games, and 24 Stars' road games (one Helena series this summer, too).

**********

Helena: RHP Mike Schaub at home vs. Missoula (Diamondbacks), 7:50 PM pre-game, 8:05 gametime

Free Live Audio Link -- Select the Helena feed from the MiLB main audio page

We're lucky to have Steve Wendt back on board for another H-Crew season.

**********

Arizona Rookie (Maryvale): at home vs. the Angels' tykes; 9:00 PM gametime; never audio for games in this league

**********

DSL Brewers: at home vs. the DSL Angels, 9:30 AM, although game data won't be available until late afternoon at the earliest

Baseball America:

Brewers 2010 fourth-rounder Hunter Morris has an outside shot at winning the Double-A Southern League triple crown. He's batting .314 (second in the batting race) with 14 homers (fourth) and 67 RBIs (first) for Huntsville.

***

Morris has an outside chance of breaking the Brewers' organization season record for doubles in a season. Morris has 27 through 85 games.

Another Brewer 4th rounder (1994), Darrell Nicholas (career stats), parlayed the bandbox that was AA El Paso in 1997 for 47 doubles.

While the doubles record would be great for Morris and far more impressive than a Texas league record, his real prospect emergence has coincided very nicely in a lot fewer doubles since April and a lot more HRs. I'm starting to come around on him and that big time power tool he already has more extra base hits than Hart did during his MVP year. I was checking and to my surprise the park factor for Huntsville has not changed that much since Hart's performance (it is a pretty HR friendly place, but mostly neutral otherwise). The reason for more surprise is that a decade ago it was very much a pitcher's league where as the last few seasons it has seemed to play much more offense friendly.

I swore off MiLB.com's Moniker Madness a couple of years ago, but the fact that Yonki Hernandez is in it this year pleases me.

Also, Scooter Gennett, who should be listed as Ryan -- that's why the whole thing is a drag, and David Goforth. (Hey, if Will Startup can win the whole thing, then so can David Goforth.)

Of course, Zelous makes his annual appearance...

Two fine audio choices tonight -- listen to what the Hiram Burgos buzz brings us with Alex, that should be fun.

Then, Mike Schaub is on the mound for Helena. The Anaheim high school 2010 late-round pick intrigued in Maryvale for two years -- did you listen to Steve Wendt interview H-Crew Pitching Coach Elvin Nina or Schaub himself?

We linked to those last week -- all about the movement on his pitches...

Via the Stars:

Simply The Best…

With his third straight victory on Wednesday night, Stars starting pitcher Hiram Burgos is proving himself to be a strength of the Huntsville starting rotation. In 10 starts this season with Huntsville, Burgos is 7-1 with a 2.05 ERA. Furthermore, in six June starts, Burgos was 2-0 with a 0.71 ERA (38 IP). Burgos is Monday’s starting pitcher for the Stars.

Final: Kane County 4, Wisconsin 6

Rattlers roar back to top Cougars

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers spotted the Kane County Cougars three runs on Monday afternoon at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Wisconsin would score six unanswered runs and go on to a 6-4 win. Brandon Macias had four hits to pace the Rattlers attack.

Kane County (44-44 overall, 10-8 second half) went in front with the first three runs of the game. Julio Aparicio hit a leadoff home run in the top of the second inning. In the third inning, Daniel Mateo and Aparicio each had two out RBI triples off Wisconsin starter David Goforth.

Ben McMahan started the comeback with a solo home run in the third inning. The homer was the seventh of the season for McMahan.

Wisconsin (53-34, 9-9) tied the game in the fifth inning with a pair of runs. Macias doubled and McMahan walked with one out. Nick Ramirez singled to drive in Macias and an error on the play allowed both McMahan and Ramirez to each move up a base. Cameron Garfield got McMahan home with the tying run on a ground out.

The Rattlers sprinted in front with three quick runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Chadwin Stang's bunt single with Max Walla at third and Adrian Williams at first caught the Cougars off guard and got Walla home to put Wisconsin up 4-3.

Williams made the next run with his legs. He would get a walking lead from second base and easily stole third. The throw to third deflected off Williams into left field. By the time the Cougars could corral the baseball, Williams had scored and Stang had sprinted around to third base. Macias smacked an RBI single through the drawn in infield to score Stang for a 6-3 advantage.

Goforth scattered nine hits over six innings. He struck out two and did not walk a batters in the game to earn his sixth win of the season. Alan Williams pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen to get to closer Tommy Toledo in the ninth.

Toledo allowed a solo homer to Tim Ferguson with one out in the ninth, but closed out the 6-4 win without any more incidents.

The Timber Rattlers are off on Tuesday. Wisconsin returns to action on Wednesday night from Eastlake, Ohio with a game against the Lake County Captains. Mark Williams (5-6, 2.86) is the scheduled starting pitcher for Wisconsin. Cody Anderson (4-5, 3.11) is set to start for Lake County. Game time is 6:00pm CDT. Tune in for the broadcast on AM1280, WNAM or timberrattlers.com starting with the Miller Lite Pregame Show at 5:40pm.

HOME RUNS:

KC:

Julio Aparicio (3rd, 0 on in 2nd inning off David Goforth, 0 out)

Tim Ferguson (2nd, 0 on in 9th inning off Tommy Toledo, 1 out)

WIS:

Ben McMahan (7th, 0 on in 3rd inning off Kyle Smith, 1 out)

WP: David Goforth (6-4)

LP: Jason Mitchell (3-5)

SAVE: Tommy Toledo (6)

TIME: 2:42

ATTN: 2,533

Wisconsin Box Score

As Mass mentioned, the Rattlers got a huge day from Brandon Macias today. He went 4-5 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI. Max Walla was 2 for 4 and scored a run. Yadiel Rivera was 1-3 with a walk. Ben McMahan homered for the T-Rats. The Rattlers did a great job of situational hitting in the sixth inning. First Adrian Williams singled through the vacated shortstop hole on a beautifully executed hit and run. Then Brandon Macias lined a single back up the middle through a draw in infield. Just really well done. Great coaching. Great execution. Just fun to watch.

David Goforth got the win after giving up three runs in six innings. Alan Williams worked two scoreless innings and Tommy Toledo earned his sixth save, despite giving up a home run in the 9th. I was actually kind of surprised to see Toledo hit 94 on the stadium. Pretty sure that's the fastest I've seen him clocked at all season.

I've been noticing a theme with Burgos (and some of our other pitchers) only throwing about 80 pitches per game, even when pitching a great game. Is that just the norm for most pitchers in the minor leagues or is it a Brewers philosophy?

After tonight's start, Burgos is about 10 innings away from the most he's pitched in a season as a pro - 119.2 last year. He pitched 137 innings between Bethune-Cookman and Helena in 2009. He could be running up against an inning limit before the end of the season, especially if the Brewers plan on pitching him in the AFL.

Final: DSL Angels 2, DSL Brewers 1

DSL Brewers Box Score

This was a tough loss, Joshua Torres gave up a solo HR in the top of the 9th and then the Brewers bowed out in order to end the game. Jorge Ortega was excellent once again going 7 innings allowing 7 hits, 1 earned run, and 2 walks against 6 strike outs posting a 10:1 ratio! He also pitched around some poor defense in the 5th to get out of a jam.

Despite getting 7 hits and the Angels committing 3 errors the Brewers only managed 1 run. Raphachel Colatosti had the only multi-hit day going 2-5 with a stolen base, that was about it. No one had any XBHs, no one else had a steal, but Yunior De La Cruz struggled on defense again committing his 4th error on an errant pick off attempt and his 2nd PB.

It's a recent trend and I find it extremely irritating at the upper levels... in WI, their first year in full season ball, I don't have a problem with 80-85 pitches, but in AA and above shouldn't they be preparing for a bigger workload?
