Brevard County: TBD at home vs. Clearwater (Phillies), 4:05 PM gametime

Sorry, no audio for this series...

Once again this season, Brevard does not have its own audio coverage. It appears two teams in the Manatees North Division (within which the majority of games are played) have audio, and all six teams in the South Division have audio (at least for their home games), so there will be opportunities to listen to approx. 70% or Brevard's games this season, just all from the opponent's perspective. There are no Florida State League games on MiLB.TV this year.

Wisconsin: RHP Chad Pierce at home vs. Kane County (Royals), 12:45 PM pre-game, 1:05 gametime

Chris Mehring is back to do his customary fantastic work as the Voice of the Rattlers. Follow him on Twitter @CMehring; we'll link to Chris' infamous blog often -- Rattler Radio.

MiLB.TV -- for subscribers; Wisconsin is one of only two (Great Lakes) Midwest League clubs that have all their home games available via MiLB.TV; Chris' call provides the audio. So for the $39.95 season-long package, fans in Brewer Nation can watch all Sounds games, all Timber Rattlers home games, and 24 Stars' road games (one Helena series this summer, too).

Final: Kane County 0, Wisconsin 10

Rattlers shutout Kane County

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

GRAND CHUTE, WI - It was a total team effort for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Sunday afternoon against the Kane County Cougars at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Pitchers Chad Pierce and Stephen Peterson combined to shutout the Cougars on eight hits. Cameron Garfield and Chadwin Stang each had three hits to lead the Rattlers to a 10-0 victory over the Cougars. Garfield also had three RBI in the game.

Stang and Brandon Macias started the Timber Rattlers first inning with consecutive singles. One out later, Ben McMahan drove in Stang with a double off the glove of Cougars third baseman Daniel Mateo. Garfield sent both Macias and McMahan home with a two-out double off the center field wall for a 3-0 lead.

Wisconsin (52-34 overall, 8-9 second half) tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Adrian Williams drew a one out walk and Stang singled to right to put runners on the corners. An errant pickoff throw to first by Bryan Brickhouse let Williams score and Stang to race around to third base. Macias dropped a perfect suicide squeeze to let Stang score the second run of the inning for a 5-0 lead.

Pierce got into and out of a pair of jams to work six scoreless innings. In the fourth, Kane County (44-43, 10-7) loaded the bases with one out. Pierce got a strikeout and a flyball to right to end the threat. In the fifth, Tim Ferguson reached on a leadoff double. But, Ferguson was left stranded at third base as the inning ended.

The Rattlers offense got revved up again in the bottom of the sixth inning. Garfield delivered an RBI double and Yadiel Rivera knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly. Later in the inning, Stang had another sacrifice fly to push the lead to 8-0.

Stang and Macias tacked on consecutive RBI singles in the eighth inning to account for the final score.

Pierce walked one and struck out four in the game to earn his third win of the season. Peterson struck out a pair over three scoreless innings to rack up his second save.

The final game of the series - and the homestand - is Monday afternoon. David Goforth (5-4, 5.42) is the scheduled starting pitcher for Wisconsin. Kane County has Kyle Smith (0-0, 2.63) as their scheduled starter. Game time is 12:05pm.

Show your business card when you purchase a ticket and for $11.50 you will receive a box seat ticket, a beverage and your choice of brat or hot dog for the Baker Tilly Business Persons Special. The offer is also good for senior citizens.

As part of a B104.7 Qdoba Q*Monday fans may receive a free ticket to tomorrow's game or for any Monday home game on the 2012 schedule when they purchase a lunch entrée at the Qdoba by the Fox River Mall on Monday.

If you can't make it out to the ballpark, there are many ways to catch the action from Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. The radio call is available on AM1280, WNAM and timberrattlers.com starting with the Miller Lite Pregame Show at 11:45am. Sports32 will have the telecast for Time Warner Cable subscribers. The game is also available to MiLB.TV subscribers.

Final: @AZL Cubs 6, AZL Brewers 5 (11 innings)

AZL Brewers box score

The Maryvale boys scored 17 fewer runs in the 1st inning than they did yesterday, but had a 5-2 lead going into the bottom of the 8th before their bullpen imitated the big club's. Joel Dicent turned in his best start of the year, allowing two runs in five innings while fanning five. Most of the damage came off 18-year-old Anthony Banda, this year's 10th-rounder, who was charged with two runs in the 8th and the tying run in the 9th and earned for his trouble...a hold. Of course.

Clint Coulter was on four times with a single, two walks, and a HBP. He DHed, so no defensive miscues, but I'm not going to let him off entirely. I pointed out yesterday that he committed his sixth passed ball in just ten games but neglected to clarify that it was just his sixth game at catcher. It also deserves mentioning that of the 18 baserunners that have tried to steal off him, he's nabbed precisely none of them. Now, it's just six games, and I'm sure most AZL pitchers have bigger things on their mind than controlling the running game, but 0% is rather suboptimal, eh?

Malcolm Dowell singled in his only two at-bats, Renaldo Jenkins singled and tripled in four trips, and Jose Garcia collected a single and a double in his five at-bats. The 6'3" Garcia, you'll recall, was an outfielder in his previous four years in the system before converting to catcher this year; he made his first 2012 appearance in the outfield today, starting in left.

Jose Pena cooled off with an 0-4 day, though he did notch a sac fly. Tyrone Taylor did not play. I was hoping to see speedy Edgardo Rivera, the Brewers' recently inked 8th-rounder, make his pro debut today, but alas--maybe tomorrow. Maybe he'll bring Gian Rizzo with him, too. Beastly Dan Vogelbach, the Cubs' 2nd-rounder last year and my kind of player, was 0-3 with a walk.

AZL Brewers play-by-play

Unlike Coulter, Dustin Houle has been decent with his arm, throwing out three of nine attempted base thieves coming into today. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out the same today, and the Cubs' baserunning played a key part in the victory:

AZL Cubs Bottom of the 8th

  • Pitcher Change: Anthony Banda replaces Austin Blaski.
  • Timothy Saunders singles on a ground ball to shortstop Angel Ortega.
  • Daniel Lockhart singles on a line drive to center fielder Dionis Hinojosa. Timothy Saunders to 2nd.
  • With Ben Carhart batting, Timothy Saunders steals (4) 3rd base. Daniel Lockhart steals (2) 2nd base.
  • Ben Carhart grounds out, shortstop Angel Ortega to first baseman Alan Sharkey. Timothy Saunders scores. Daniel
  • Lockhart to 3rd.
  • Daniel Vogelbach walks.
  • Justin Marra walks. Daniel Vogelbach to 2nd.
  • With Izaac Garsez batting, wild pitch by Anthony Banda, Daniel Lockhart scores. Daniel Vogelbach to 3rd. Justin Marra to 2nd.
  • Izaac Garsez strikes out swinging.
  • Jacob Rogers called out on strikes.

AZL Cubs Bottom of the 9th

  • David Bote walks.
  • Pitcher Change: Carlos Sosa replaces Anthony Banda.
  • Alberto Mineo out on a sacrifice bunt, third baseman Jalen Harris to first baseman Alan Sharkey. David Bote to 2nd.
  • With Timothy Saunders batting, David Bote steals (2) 3rd base, David Bote scores. Throwing error by catcher Dustin Houle.
  • Timothy Saunders walks.
  • With Daniel Lockhart batting, Timothy Saunders steals (5) 2nd base.
  • Daniel Lockhart flies out to left fielder Jose Garcia.
  • With Ben Carhart batting, wild pitch by Carlos Sosa, Timothy Saunders to 3rd.
  • Ben Carhart flies out to right fielder Jose Pena.

The Sounds are facing off against Scott Gorgen today; I remember wanting the Brewers to take him in 2008 because of his outstanding changeup.

Do you know why he didn't pitch last year?

Audio from Memphis — “Going Deep and Going Fishing with (Caleb) Gindl”

Jeff Hem's note -- Tonight’s interview is with Sounds outfielder Caleb Gindl, who discusses his recent hitting surge (.375 in last 11 games), the team’s recent surge in the W column, his season so far, including his early-year struggles, and his fishing plans and strategies for the upcoming all-star break.

With the exception of all-star reliever Jim Henderson, the Sounds after tonight are off until Thursday night when they take on Albuquerque at 7:05 at Greer Stadium. A reminder that the Triple-A All-Star Game from Buffalo, New York, will air live on the Sounds’ radio flagship, 102.5 The Game, on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. CT. Either way, our broadcast coverage of Sounds baseball continues Thursday night at 6:50 on those same airwaves. Chat with you then!

That's what I figured, but I couldn't find an definitive answer on a quick google search.

Rogers is pitching fantastic setting the Redbirds down in order in 4 of the 5 frames thus far. He also chased Gorgen with a single in the top of the 5th.

Lamb's 2 RBI day not enough for O's

07/08/2012 8:15 PM ET

Missoula Osprey

HELENA, MONT - Jake Lamb had two hits and two RBIs, while Evan Mrzilli went 3-for-4 at the plate, but the Missoula Osprey struggled to score runs once again here at Kindrick Legion Field, as the Helena Brewers managed to work out a 6-2 win in front of 373 fans.

Raul Mondesi, Jr. hit a grand slam with two out in the bottom of the sixth to give the Brewers the lead for good, 5-2. Helena would add another run in the bottom of the seventh to close out the scoring.

Yoimer Camacho started for the Osprey on the mound, and pitched three strong innings in his first outing since suffering a sprained ankle at Billings on June 21. Camacho allowed a run on two hits and a walk, while striking out six batters. Ross Gerdeman (1-2) would pitch the final five innings, striking out seven, but allowing five runs in taking the setback.

Pedro Ruiz added two hits and scored both Osprey runs, while Breland Almadova added a double and a stolen base for Missoula, who collected eight hits on the day.

The Osprey and Brewers finish up their three game series on Monday at Kindrick Legion Field at 7:05 p.m. The Osprey will send right-hander Chris Pack to the mound, while the Brewers will counter with right-hander Michael Schaub.

Helena 6 Missoula (D'Backs) 2

Box Score

Oh, to be 20 year old Raul Mondesi Jr. For one, your named after a pretty dang good ball player. Two, your younger brother Adalberto (by 3 years) is in the same league as you, got a bonus 10 fold plus more than you and is out performing you at the plate. And three, your MiLB career thus far has been defined by a mental miscue while trying to taunt another team. It is for these reasons that I have found myself cheering extra hard for Raul. So today, when I saw the box score, I was very happy for him. He went only 1-4, and he did K 3 times, but he mashed the game winning grand slam with 2-outs in the 6th. It is technically his 1st homer on the season, and it was a big. Oh, and I think teams are starting to fear his arm. I mean, he hasn't recorded an OF assist in over a week.

Michael Reed got all south of the border with 4 K in 4 AB. 3-hitter Chris McFarland (2-4) continues his offensive onslaught. Chris did commit his 4th error. As the Pioneer League season draws out, I hope to see a few more XBH's from McFarland, but he is clearly on track for a full season assignment out of camp next season and he may get some WI AB's at some point yet this season. 4-hitter Adam Giacalone (2-3 BB) his coming alive a bit. I was pretty excited when we signed him away from Tennessee for slot money (100K).

Will West got the start and was good enough for me. 5 IP 7 H 2 R 2 ER 2 BB 6 K 1 WP 4:3 GO:FO. The relievers were very good tonight. Mike Francisco and Connor Whalen combined for 4 IP 1 H 0 R 1 BB 1 K.

Just a guess that we'll be notifying folks on Monday that Hunter Morris is the Southern League Player of the Week.

I am really, really hoping for a league MVP acceptance speech at some point.

Is there anyone that still doubts Morris will be an .825-.875 OPS 1B at this point? Mixing in solid defense as well will make him a 3-4 WAR kind of guy.
