Dillard.

I'm done for the night. Not that I shouldn't have turned this mess off a long time ago, but I can't watch this guy anymore this season.

Wolf's option will get picked up. There are not 3 good starter in the minors who really deserve a spot in the rotation next year. $8.5m is a small price to pay for one year of service time for a pitcher.

Sure Wolf has had some bad starts but he isn't a terrible pitcher.

Is this supposed to be in blue? Randy Wolf's ERA is going to be almost 6. In July. Currently he is a bad pitcher. And $8.5M is a lot more than a small price to pay.

$8.5m is cheap for an extra year of service time on a pitcher.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Well it looks like we cross off Wolf from being traded and if Marcum is not going to pitch until after the break.we can kiss him off the trade board so it might be Melvin could not be a seller if he wanted. Very very depressing thought coming to the deadline.

That would be a spectacular waste of $8.5 million.

Are you saying that a 36 year old with an ERA currently at 5.78 would get $8.5 million in the open market? If they don't pick his option and still want him they could resign him at a much lower price than $8.5 million.

What I am saying is that young good pitching is very valuable and keeping Wolf for $8.5m in a year we are not going to compete is a small price to pay for and extra prime year of a young pitcher 6 years from now.

Is there really a person on this board who thinks we should pick up Wolf's option? That would honestly be the worst possible thing the Brewers could do. I like Estrada, Fiers, and Narv Dog better than Wolf at this point and that isn't taking into account the fact that those 3 would combine to to make less than a third of Wolfs option for 2013.

I guess it is just about service time and sending out a warm body to eat up innings and not about results. Comeeeee ooooon maaaaan.

Wolf has played up to his contract for every season until this one. At his age, he may have turned into a pumpkin so his option won't be picked up. Not sure why the bitterness towards the guy. He was a valuable piece last year and very good for a fourth starter.

Wolf was a very good #4 last year, an okay one in 2010, and a very bad one this year. I'm not bitter towards him, but I don't know why people have to pretend that he was some great FA signing. If what we have gotten from him over the course of 3 years is "market value", then I think we should stay far away from signing anymore FA starting pitchers.

Wolf is a textbook example of the consequences of not being able to develop your own starting pitching. You end up having to overpay for "market value" and dish out $30M for 3 years of the same production that you should be getting from a 0-3 player in your system for a fraction of the cost.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Wolf bounce back in the second half. He seems like he has enough left in the tank for at least that. I definitely don't want to see his option picked up next year, though.

That said, this was another frustrating game. I turned it off around the fifth inning. It's time for Doug to #sellsellsell.

I was going to leave in the 7th, but I wanted to see the double cycle. Then that idiot in LF interfered with Goldscmidt's ball down the line.

I didn't even realize that I saw the first cycle. I was too busy being disgusted and discussing with my friend whether I should leave after the 6th or the 7th. I wondered why people were cheering just because Livan Hernandez was in the game. And then figured it out when I got home and turned on the post game show.
