Wow, that's one way to make sure the heart of your order doesn't get to bat with runners on. WOW. This is why I prefer Macha over RR in terms of in game management. At least he let the guys just play.

RRs strength = setting up a little league clubhouse where everyone is just peaches. RR's locker room post game pep talk: "hey good game guys, you all tried your best tonight right? great! now who's mom brought the snacks? yeah, maldy, your mommy brought scooby doo grammy crackers yum-my. No rickie you can't one for Jemile, these are only for team brewers".

Ill take Machas far superior baseball sense 2x over RR and 3x over yost.

2nd and 3rd and no out.... come on RR, call for a suicide squeeze so you can inject yourself into the action. Then you can pat yourself on the back if they score, even though they probably would have anyway.

That captures it perfectly.

RR called the suicide squeeze, just like the oracle Rluz suggested he might. captain fudamental nyjer didn't get it done. short story we got two ABS with the bases loaded and no one out.

I only have Gameday but let me guess: RR calls for a suicide squeeze on a ball in the dirt, Ransom left to die.

By my count, that is at least 4 failed squeeze attempts this year. As I've mentioned several times before, you need to have a success rate way over 90% to justify a suicide squeeze attempt. Other managers don't call a million squeezes because they know realize the break even point is usually very high. RR apparently doesn't and apparently thinks he's stumbled on something brilliant.

Why in god's name do a suicide squeeze with bases loaded? you've got two chances for a hit, a walk, a wild pitch, a deep fly ball -- it's not like it's guaranteed to work.

sigh.

im guessing nyjer morgan's inability to hit LHP played into it. definitely not the right call, but maybe the line of thinking is "he's going to get out either way, maybe he can push a run across this way". Of course that would entail him getting the bunt down in the first place.
