Quick question regarding the RR debate.

Is it the negativity that bothers those of you who always side with RR, or do you truly think RR has a clue how to manage a MLB team...

If you just get sick of the negative comments, I can fully undestand that being a drag, but after 1.5 years of watching RR flail around our dugout, I just can't see any reason to think he can run this team successfully... He was outmanaged by Ned Yost for God's sake.

I can't stand Roenicke either but yes it is annoying to scroll through every IGT and see like 8 of yours posts each page, with 6 of them saying how much Roenicke sucks.

False, as I said before, I wanted Thornburg out after the 5th, regardless of his pitch count.

You did not say that, only after the 6th inning happened

whatever...

silly argument.

Not so much posting less, just don't post redundantly.

We differ in opinion, and that is just the way it is.

He had held one of the best offensive teams to 2 runs through 5 innings, imo, his job was done. He was about to face some bigtime hitters for the 3rd time in the same game. A recipe for disaster considering this is his first big league start.

Ok, so he lets him come out for the 6th, gives up a HR, maybe that is the first clue, and maybe THAT is the time to react. Nope, leaves him in. Gives up his 2nd HR, back to back. Maybe THAT is the time to make a move. Tie game, first big league start, let the regulars blow the lead, no harm no foul. Nope, he leaves him in to give up his 3rd HR, back, to back to back. Inexcusable as a manager. There really is no way to excuse his poor decision making, and it happens daily.

You have to understand when to handle a situation, especially a rookie against that line-up, the third time through. It is textbook rookie in his first start stuff. Big league hitters, third time through can figure a rookie out. If Dillard comes in and blows it, so be it. We have seen that before often enough...

The Jays hitters didn't "figure out" Thornburg though, he simply made three bad pitches. One up and two that split the center of the plate. If he was hitting his spots as he was earlier in the game instead of splitting home plate, it wouldn't have resulted in three straight jacks.

Had he thrown those same terrible pitches to those three guys the second time they faced Thornburg, the results likely would have been the same. Power hitters usually crush fastballs right down the middle, regardless of the inning.

Turborickey, I think part of the issue is that you've already completely made your mind up 100% about Roenicke and there is no way to even talk you into moving your position 1% in the other direction.

It's basically like a political debate.

I believe a lot of people here would hate Joe Maddon a lot as Roenicke and Maddon have the exact same down to a T managing style. Both have the same problem or perceived problem with bullpen management. I remember one game where I believe Maddon had Longoria sacrifice bunt a runner over to 3rd late in a game. If that happened here this board would blow up.

Point is there is no manager in baseball that worth anything really at most a manager is going to win you maybe 1 game a year and probably lose about 2-3 games a year.

This bullpen is rough to watch.

It's even more aggravating when you realize the best reliever on the mound so far tonight for either team should still be Brewer property. Melvin just gifted him to Toronto prior to last season for a ghost PTNL.

I have to give it to this team, they're starting to really battle. If we could solidify the bullpen we could make a big run here.

Lets keep this civil please.

Roenicke, you ***** idiot. Good job leaving him in. Back to back to back home runs.

After back to back home runs, Thornburg should have never been in to pitch to Encarnacion. But our manager is a mental midget.

Anybody with half a brain would think "hmm, 23 year old making his first MLB appearance. 70 + pitches already, back to back home runs, and a big masher coming up. Let's pull him. He's done well, kept us in the game".

But noooooooooooooooooooooooo, not the sloth Ron Roenicke. His brain operates on "slow".

______________________________________________________________________________________________

Result? Three home runs in a row, and now we're behind because our idiot manager couldn't outmanage Terry Schiavo.

I think we may be well beyond the keeping things civil line and those quotes are only from today's IGT. Not sure where the need to be civil to people on the board comes from when several posters feel free to constantly rag on the manager in very uncivil ways because they don't agree with his decisions.

Hey, look on the bright side. At least the contact play wasn't on during that inning.

That was my first thought as well.

None of those quotes are mine. Not one of them.

The "civil" comment I made was directed at another poster who questioned my honesty.

You quoted posts that may have been made in this thread, but none of them were mine.

I didn't say any of the quotes were yours. I was actually agreeing with you that we should keep things civil, not just to each other as posters but civil overall in a true baseball discussion instead of resorting to name calling.

Sorry if that didn't come across the way I intended, but I was certainly on your side of keeping things civil.

That's the issue

A few years ago i used to read the forums of other teams sometimes, including the Cardinals one. Tons of St. Louis fans would rip on LaRussa almost nightly, calling him clueless, an idiot, past his prime, etc. Of course after the Cards won it all last year, he was back to being smart to most on their forum.

If you were to read the forum of every team in baseball, on pretty much every single one of them you'd find a certain percentage of the posters regularly calling the manager clueless, an idiot, braindead, etc. Same in other sports.

I still remember on this Packers forum i read, a bunch of posters ragged on McCarthy and said he needed to be fired because the team could never win a ring with him as coach. Including during the year the Packers eventually won it all. Of course then those fans said he was smart.
