2012-06-16 Brewers (Fiers) at Twins (Hendriks), 1:10 PM CDT [Brewers win, 6-2]

Love how Rock says that Estrada should have his rotation spot when he's back from injury.

Said he's earned it and shouldnt loose his spot due to injury. How about losing your spot cause youve given up more home runs that almost any other pitcher in the major leagues??

Talk about timing. (see post below yours) OK I wasnt hearing things. But at least it was only Rock's opinion and not what might happen.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Very understandable, but Rock said something like this... "The Brewers better score a bunch of runs so that doesn't become an issue"

Well the only way it could have been an issue is if Weeks did not score. Well Aoki had already singled to score TWO runs. Hence, Rock is a moron. Likeable guy, but a moron.

I heard that and I don't think that's what he meant. They were talking about how the Brewers weren't very good with fundamentals lately and they mentioned asking something in Brewers Live about whether that bunt was called or not. Then he said let's just score a bunch of runs so it doesn't matter. In other words, why don't we have a blowout for once. I get that Schroeder isn't the greatest and says dumb things sometimes. But in the grand scheme of broadcasters, he's actually pretty decent. And I think you're just looking for something to call him out on here.

Could someone tell me if they heard earlier that Estrada will start when he is off the DL? I thought I had heard that he was guaranteed to be a starter but maybe I've just had too many beers already!

If this is true, what a shame. Estrada is a great long relief pitcher and keeps us in a lot of games when our starter struggles. Would hate to lose that bridge to our 6-9 inning guys.

For while, I thought Estrada should go back into the rotation, but I think Fiers is doing well enough for a #5 that it would be better for the team to roll Estrada back into his long relief role.

Agree to disagree. I like Rock. But he has very stupid comments, each and every game.

JUST PUT GOMEZ IN CF AND LEAVE HIM THERE!!! He catches that ball probably and if not, Doumit is held to a single at least. Damnit. Is Morgan giving us anything more with his bat? NO! Stop it RR and play your best players.

(I get that they may be trying to showcase Morgan but people know what he brings to the table. He's a headache that should not of been asked back)

I think commentating is a lot harder than people think. You're live and everything you say is heard by millions. Sure you can prepare ahead of time and do research and have ideas about what you wanna say. But when it comes down to it, you're just kind of going with the flow of the game. I'm sure the majority of people would say at least one "stupid" thing each game when they're thinking off the top of their heads.

People last night were saying that Gomez sucks because of his mental mistakes and people today are saying he should be playing everyday. I understand these are different people but I think it's interesting some think he should be off the team and others think he should play everyday.

Personally, I think he should still be platooning because he can't hit RHP (and some say he can't even hit LHP). Yes he plays amazing defense but with the way the offense has been lately, I would sacrifice some defense for more offense. However, I think his platooning partner should be Aoki, not Morgan. Then play Hart in RF and Green at 1B.

I'm really glad we didn't end up with Jamey Carroll. Also, Ryan Braun is good at baseball.

Since Gomez came back from the DL:

Morgan: .245/.327/.388

Gomez: .236/.300/.327

Neither one of those lines is very good (although if you want to extend Morgan's sample back another month to April 23rd, his OBP is around .350) and I understand that Gomez is a better fielder...but that's almost a 90 point difference in OPS. I expect a lot more out of Morgan as well (maybe the occasional double....?) and he's had a bad game today, but he's been an OK player since a brutal first 3 weeks of the season. He still needs to be better, but given the current roster I think he belongs in the lineup most days against RHP.

RR said last week that when Estrada comes back he'll be the #5. Pretty premature to make that statement. Why not leave your options open?

The mentality that you can't lose your position due to injury is way too simplistic, especially when you're talking about guys who were backups to begin with (Estrada, Izturus) and when your team is barely treading water and fighting to get back to .500. If your replacement is outperforming you before your injury, no way should your starting spot be guaranteed. Sure as hell doesn't work that way in the NFL.

Is anyone watching RR trying to skirt the issue of that botched squeeze play where Rickie stood on 3B?

This guy is an absolute turd of a coach.

The reporters let him off the hook......again, instead of pressing him. Those guys are far too nice to him.

He doesn't want to hurt "Esty's" feelings...

He can't hit LHP. He really can't hit at all but since Morgan is so bad against LHP Morgan needs to be platooned. If Gomez was a little worse on defense I would just play Morgan full time.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Does Ryan Braun know Trevor Plouffe (3B) or something? On his first HR today, Braun looked like he was smiling at him as he was approaching 3rd. On the second HR, it looked like Braun winked at him. Or maybe he was doing that to somebody else...

Anyways, nice win and let's get game 3 tomorrow Greinke. Help me forget about that Royals series.

The problem with platoons, different line-ups every day, and guys not playing daily, is that no one gets comfortable.

At some point, and how could it hurt, let either Gomez or Morgan (Morgan would be my preference) play for a week with no breaks... Can it possibly be any worse than what we are seeing now?

I would think that the constant changes and uncertainty is tough to deal with for these guys. Don't even get me started on the Taylor Green saga. Either play him, or send him down so he can get regular at bats. If ever there was a line-up that we could watch him play to see what he can do, this is it!

And yet the uncomfortable Morgan and Gomez were incredibly valuable last year to the point where out CF tandem gave us a WAR of 6.0 or near MVP level quality.

These guys have been playing baseball in many cases on teams that switch rosters at the drop of the hat since they were 12. They are use to it.

I saw that. Maybe, or maybe he's winking at the third base coach, or some hot chick in the stands.

Yep. From the game recap:

http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/gametracker/recap/MLB_20120616_MIL@MIN

"I can't let Trev surpass me in homers or I will never hear the end of it," Braun said with a smile. "It's my motivation to not allow Trevor Plouffe to pass me in home runs, which is not easy to do. Luckily we didn't throw him any strikes today. He only got to swing the bat once."

----

Braun and Plouffe have been friends for the better part of 15 years. Plouffe played baseball with Braun's younger brother growing up in California and got to know Braun, who is two years older, quite well. They share the same agent and work out together in the offseason.

are you expecting him to throw a player or coach under the bus after a nice win? It was likely a miscommunication, and that's what he said happened. There's no reason to say more.
