2012-06-14 Brewers (Marcum) at Royals (Hochevar), 7:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 4-3]


I say this all the time, but the dropped third strike rule is the dumbest rule in baseball. Who came up with it? What was the reasoning behind it? What's the point in rewarding hitters who swung at pitches that weren't close?

That is a good point and i would be interested to hear the thought process behind it as well

I've thought this as well. It comes to mind every time I see it. It's so stupid. There shouldn't be any reward for swinging at a pitch in the dirt.
