Wolf has 95 pitches and has pitched an outstanding game. No reason he should be pulled. But yet he will for the guy who blew last night's game. I'll never understand Ron Roenicke.

Wolf is probably a 4.5 ERA pitcher these days. After 95 pitches, he's a 5+ ERA pitcher. There is no question that the right move was to pull him. That's what the facts suggest at least.

A good manager needs to handle each situation differently, not just use the best "average" move at all times. Maybe most of the time Wolf should be pulled but not every time because he "becomes" a 5+ ERA pitcher after 7 innings. If he is pitching well and not losing speed or location the averages should be thrown out the window.

Yes Rock, Maldaonado can get a pretty good hack at a fastball, which is why he should have hit last night when he was pulled for Conrad by our pathetic excuse of a manager.

Studies have shown that good results does not suggest a starter will perform better "than average" going forward. If you can identify when they have better stuff, more power to you. I don't see any evidence that MLB managers can.

The fact is, even if we assume Wolf is as good after 95 pitches as he was after 0, the bullpen is STILL the better option.

This is exactly what Grady Little was thinking in '03. And it rightly cost him his job.

Just ask the catcher.

All MLB managers are idiots, in order to get the job you need to have MLB playing experience thus eliminating 99% of all better qualified candidates.

Maybe time for Ax to say off his twitter and take care of his control.

PS did his wife have the Baby yet wonder if that is on his mind

No, I'm sure it's using Twitter that's causing the problem.

Walks so often are deadly for these late inning guys. Ax for whatever reason is just struggling badly with his command. The odd thing is even as he's been struggling to throw strikes of late, his velocity looks to be up. Hitting 97-99 on nearly every fastball.

Is he over-throwing? You would think that is something his pitching coach would be able to catch.
