Kranitz: how much responsibility does the pitching coach have?

markedman5

Ok first off I'm not one of those guys that wants to blame the coach every time a pitcher struggles but I think the question needs to be asked.

How much responsibility does the pitching coach have to "fix guys" who have fallen into bad habits?

Ax has struggled with his command all year. His walks are up from one walk every 3 innings to over 1 walk every 2.

Wolf has struggled with his command as well. Now maybe with him it's just age catching up with him but his velocity seems similar to last year.

Ditto for KROD

Gallardo had 59 walks in 207 innings last year. This year prior to today he had walked 32 in 70.

I mean shouldn't a big part of a pitching coaches job be to diagnose problems and help a pitcher fix them?

The Brewers team whip this year is 1.40...last year it was 1.24. Now I know Saito and Hawkins are gone but nearly everyone who has returned(other then Greinke and Loe) are worse and this is in a year that pitching is dominating.
