2012-06-03 Pirates (McDonald) at Brewers (Fiers), 1:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 6-5]

If the Pirates don't cut off that throw at the mound, I'm pretty sure Green is dead at home.

Watching the replay I'm going to disagree. When the throw gets cut off at the mound, Green is 3 feet from the plate. No way he's out. Kid has a pretty decent motor and his starting to heat up a little himself at the plate.

5 Ks through 2.1 for Fiers is pretty solid.

Would like to see a little more patience with J-Mac.

Big test will be when he goes through the order the next time up. Looking good so far though.

Three feet?? I remember it being about 15 ... live action and on replay.

MacDonald is going to be able to go the full nine. I have a bad feeling about this game. Hopefully Fiers can get through the 5th and 6th with the lead in tact.

bummer...

I'm angry that the Brewers wore their gold jerseys yesterday and we weren't able to see them live...

I'm just tuning in now. Can anyone comment on how Fiers looked today overall? Clearly he struggled in the 5th.

Before the 5th he was cruising. He kept alot of Pirates guessing with 8 strikeouts.

Bummer of a loss, but impressive that this lineup could keep trying to fight back, given the way things were today. Roenicke went to Braun in the right spot, Braun got a pitch he usually murders (middle-in), just barely missed it. Axford HR to Barmes (that actually had to bounce over) ended up being a killer.

Fiers did about as good as you could expect for a fill-in starter. HRs are going to hurt him in home starts, and the McCutchen HR was just a really impressive AB.
