2012-05-27 Brewers (Wolf) at Diamondbacks (Hudson), 3:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 4-3]

This game is painful to be at. Why RRR sat Lucroy (who has the highest AVG and AVG with RISP) on this team still baffles me.

[sarcasm]Yeah hes good for 162 games[/sarcasm]

RR gets too much blame for this crappy team

No,but you would think you would play the hot bat.

No one can play every game at catcher. I have no problem with resting 1 out of 5 for a catcher; hot or not.

I understand your reasoning, its just frustrating as a fan ya know. I've seen a couple tweets about Kottaras being injuredl. Anyone have any info on that?

I have a huge problem with the way the catchers are used. An awful pitcher should not dictate when our 2nd best hitter plays. Kotteras has to play way too often against left handed pitchers. Luc can't play them all but he needs to be used in a much more intelligent manner, not to the whims of a whiner.

Is it inaccurate to say that the highlight of the Brewers season so far is a grand slam by a career AAA player that was needed to beat a team that is 17 games under on Memorial Day? Maybe we can change that now.

And too much credit for a 96 win team that had a lot more to do with the talent level on the team than him.

This team has no fire, they get no momentum, nothing.

Every time they look like they're taking two steps forward...they go and take three more back.

Nine games under .500 and now 4 games in LA against the Dodgers await. This is not a playoff caliber team.

Series losses to the Dbacks, Padres, Twins, Astros - a lot of bad teams. They are a ways from being good.

On the highlight so far I'll go with either the 2 walkoffs over the Dodgers, especially Kottaras' double, or Axford getting the save in St. Louis after corners and none out followed by Braun's 3 HR game the next day. Both before they lost Gonzalez and Gamel.

Prince, in his leadership role of this team, would never have allowed the uninspired play that we are seeing...

We don't just miss his bat, we also miss his presence.

Considering the expectations and coming off of last year I can't think of a more disappointing start to a season then this one.

We started out bad.....then had some injuries....kept playing bad...then had some more injuries....and continued to play bad.....

i'm already bored with this team and it's not even June....under performance from most of the position players and many of the pitchers coupled with tons of injuries is a bad combination.....

Those happened this season? Yeah, I know they did, and I actually remember them specifically now that you brought them up. I knew there were walkoffs in there, but for me at least, as exciting as they were, the overwhelming bad juju that's hovering over this season seems to be obscuring the good stuff. Trying very hard to stay psotive.

The worst part of this season has been the number of long games. Every game seems to be at least 3 hours, usually more towards 3.5. Normally I wouldn't mind that, but when it's this team that's playing games that long, it kind of gets annoying.

You know, the injuries that we have suffered have not been to very good baseball players.

We don't know what we have in Gamel, I'll give you that one.

Gonzalez was a major improvement over Yuni B, and imo, this is the one that has hurt the most.

Ishikawa........big deal. He shouldn't even be on our roster from the start.

Izturis.....See Ishikawa.

Narveson, though I know there are a lot of guys who post here who think he is a productive member of the rotation, I think this gave us a great opportunity to see what he have in guys like Peralta, Fiers, or even Thornburg. Not that TT is ready, just saying... Have we seen any of our young guys yet?

Ramirez is a temporary injury, missing him a couple of games doesn't change a season.

Gomez, been there done that. He gets hurt every year, we can only expect it at this point. We have plenty of other guys who can step in and play CF. Morgan and Aoki.

Injuries have been a oncern, but the roster that was put together to begin with was just NOT GOOD.

We would have had to have everything go GREAT to do any damage this season, instead, we have had nothing but bad.

At this point their playoff odds are around 6% or so. They probably have about a 15% chance of finishing .500 or better.

I think even going one over .500 the rest of the way to finish 78-86 would be a significant accomplishment. Talent wise, the roster isn't even as good as the 2006 team that won 75 games--and the division and National League are much improved since then. The current roster would have trouble winning 70 games. Outside of Weeks, nobody else is performing especially horribly--maybe below expected, but not significantly.

If they trade Greinke, a 95 loss season isn't out of the question.

If Greinke leaves, I think there will be some serious issues in attendance...

As soon as the fans feel like we are sellers, things will change at Miller Park, and quick...

78-86, 77-85, same difference :-)

I find it hard to believe that 70-some win Brewers team with Greinke will draw many more fans than a 70-some win Brewers team without Greinke. People will go to games in the summer no matter what and the stadium is going to be empty in September if they are out of the race. The main concern should be 2013 season ticket renewals.

I haven't been to Miller Park this year, what does the "average fan" think when they announce the lineup and sees that 50% of the starting 8 makes Yuni B look like an all-star in comparison. I find it hard to believe that any unbiased observer would think that mid-season moves could save the season.

Everything is compounded because they were already playing bad before the injury bug even hit--if this team was a few over .500 right now and trying to hang on despite injuries, I would have a different outlook. But instead they have to first get out of a giant hole before even thinking about contending.

I don't know if this team would have contended without injuries, but I suspect they would have at least competed. At least with a quality roster there is always hope that guys wake up. Now, the roster is full of players that belong in Nashville--not just on the bench, but starting every day! And they aren't even highly regarded prospects either, just 4-A or journeymen. At this point, the least they can do is start Taylor Green every day.
