Izturis to the DL; Maysonet recalled [6/22: Izturis reactivated, Maysonet DFA]

Per Mike Vassallo on twitter. That was quick. I'm guessing they acted that quickly because of Ramirez's elbow injury as well. he'll probably miss a few days. Need the extra IF right away. The Brewers just can't catch a break. Looks like Ransom is getting thrown right into the fire.

I realize Bianchi is not on the 40 man, but at this point, would losing Maysonet be a net loss? I don't think so.

Bianchi raked in AA, and is raking in AAA.

Or is Bianchi hurt, and I just don't know about it. (Actually, that would seem fitting)

He is actually, lol. But anyways, sounds like Ramirez should be able to play tomorrow, which is good.

According to TH. Bianchi will be activated today and is ready to play. He was out after being hit by a pitch. While I liked the Ransom pickup, sooner rather than later they need to give Bianchi an extended look in the big leagues. It's not just about this year.

It really doesn't matter at this point. It's different flavors of suck.

I would disagree in regards to Bianchi. He's still young enough to be considered a prospect. He was drafted out of high school in round 2, so he must have some talent. The Royals were pretty well set at SS once they got Escobar.

With all the lackluster alternatives, it would be smart for the Brewers to give him a shot at some point to see what they have. If he turns out adequate, they won't have to pony up for another veteran next year.

From what I understand, Bianchi has struggled somewhat with the glove. Ransom isn't exactly Ozzie Smith (or even Cesar Izturis) defensively, but I think the Brewers feel that at this time Bianchi might be an even bigger risk defensively

izturis activated, and maysonet designated for assignment evidently. weird move in that it removes maysonet from the 40-man roster; he could've been optioned to nashville. maybe they're high on bianchi or want the flexibility of a waiver claim soon.

Why not just DFA Izturis? Maysonet is like a younger Cesar Izturis at the plate and probably about as good in the field these days. *I didn't realize this, but Maysonet is actually only one year younger than Izturis.

Unsurprisingly, Bianchi has cooled. Despite his struggles so far Ransom has still outhit Izturis by a wide margin, and we should expect him to hit better than Izturis.

I really could care less about Maysonet and Perez being DFA'd. Neither are really needed, and will probably clear waivers and get to Nashville anyway. We could've just gotten rid of Izturis instead though and not really noticed the difference. I'm fine with Hernandez as an innings eater, he'll probably do better than the guys we've had in that role since Estrada moved to the rotation.

This move smacks of the Luis Cruz situation to me. Watch another team snap up Maysonet and then Izturis will get hurt again. I think that Maysonet is superior offensively and defensively to Izturis (I know not saying much) anyway.

Yeah, I have absolutely no idea whatsoever how Izturis brings anything more to the table than Maysonet. Zero.

This is just such a pointless move, other than the fact that I guess it gives us some depth there if Mayonset winds back up in AAA. Otherwise, it's worthless -- Izturis brings nothing to the table over what we currently have, we are no better with him.

Yea, Maysonet is just a spare part type, but i was impressed with his defense and at the plate he at least could rip an extra-base hit here and there while batting .230-.250, something in that range. With Izturis at the plate though, he looks to be in that Will Nieves category of utterly helpless.

What really stinks is that Ishikawa is now back on the team.

I want nothing to do with this guy, while he was gone, we got to see what Hart could do at 1B, and now that "Ishi" is back, you can bet he will vulture his share of starts so RR can get him playing time.

I just hate how this team is ran day in and day out...

Izturis and Ishikawa add nothing to this team, yet here they are again. We didn't even notice they were gone, yet here they are again.

Stupid, just stupid.
