Brewers Last Trade With...

The Anthony Swarzak acquisition with the White Sox replaced a trade that was tied for the longest current team pairing drought, replacing this memorable deal:

White Sox (12/13/04) -- Brewers acquired OF Carlos Lee in exchange for OF Scott Podsednik, RHP Luis Vizcaino and a player to be named (INF Travis Hinton)

In terms of trade partners, the longest current gap is now solely with the Rockies (12/13/04).

Easier to recognize the latest trade with Texas, as the Jeremy Jeffress re-acquisition replaces the big Lucroy/Brinson (plus) deal of last summer on our "Last Trade With" tracker.

Rockies (12/13/04) -- Acquired cash in exchange for RHP Marcos Carvajal

Brewers made use of a Rule 5 pick for Carvajal, who was immediately dealt.

This trade partner relationship with Colorado is by far the longest dry spell currently for the Brewers, as seen in the initial post here. It's ten and a half years longer than the next longest drought (St. Louis).

Even though this was one of those quick same-day Rule 5 draft trades, it's still sad to note that Carvajal passed in January 2018 at age 33.

Former pitcher Marcos Carvajal dies in Venezuela amid lack of medication for pneumonia

NOTE: This past spring MLB.com wrote about the longest current MLB trade partner droughts for each team. Brewers-Rockies is the 7th longest drought, and no drought pre-dates the year 2000.

Bumped this post and this thread because Kyle Lobner continued his remarkable This Day in Brewers History series today, and I realized that on this same day five years earlier in 1999 the two teams were involved in a major (yet lackluster for the Crew) three-team trade. Haven't researched if the teams had dealt with each other between the '99 and '04 deals.

P.S.: I am aware that in the initial post of this thread many of the Baseball Cube Player Page links need to be updated. Apparently the Cube updated all their links some time ago.

The initial post in this "Brewers Last Trade With..." thread is up to date.

One convenience is that you can click on a player's name to see how they are doing with their new organization.

We see you at that link in small samples, both David Hamilton and Alex Binelas, off to above 1.000 OPS starts with the BoSox.

Because their acquisitions have since been superseded by subsequent trades with the same team, also wanted to include below:

RHP Reese Olson (to Tigers for LHP Daniel Norris)

C Payton Henry (to Marlins for RHP John Curtiss). Henry is currently Miami's backup big-league catcher.

RHP's Trevor Richards and Bowden Francis (to Blue Jays for 1B Rowdy Tellez)

C Samuel Escodero (to Pirates for RHP Jandel Gustave and OF Troy Stokes, Jr.)

RHP's Drew Rasmussen and J.P. Feyereisen (to Blue Jays for SS Willy Adames and RHP Trevor Richards)

RHP Paxton Schultz (to Blue Jays for OF Derek Fisher)

***

But be sure to click on that first link here to get to the main post.

Replaced this

Orioles (07/31/18) -- Acquired IF Jonathan Schoop in exchange for IF Jonathan Villar, RHP Luis Ortiz, and IF Jean Carmona

with this in the initial post

Orioles (06/23/22) -- Acquired INF Patrick Dorrian in exchange for cash considerations

The Orioles partnership had been the 5th oldest since a trade had been last completed.

With a bit of help from MLB Trade Rumors, let's see if we can list those eight MKE-SEA deals in the Jerry DiPoto era. DiPoto joined Seattle for the 2015-16 offseason, so this timeline lines up nicely with the David Stearns - Matt Arnold regime.

11/20/15 - Brewers acquired OF Ramon Flores in exchange for INF Luis Sardinas

12/09/15
- Brewers acquired RHPs Freddy Peralta, Carlos Herrera and Daniel Missaki in exchange for 1B Adam Lind

12/21/18
 - Brewers acquired OF Ben Gamel and RHP Noah Zavolas in exchange for OF Domingo Santana

04/14/19 - Brewers acquired C David Freitas in exchange for RHP Sal Biasi

12/05/19 - Brewers acquired C Omar Narvaez in exchange for RHP Adam Hill and a Competitive Balance Draft pick (became RHP Connor Phillips)

05/02/21 - Acquired C Jacob Nottingham in exchange for cash considerations

12/02/22 - Brewers acquired OF/DH Jesse Winker and INF Abraham Toro in exchange for 2B Kolten Wong

01/07/23 - Brewers acquired RHP Joseph Hernandez in exchange for RHP Justin Topa
