man...I've tried to keep some optimism (guys have to turn it around, easier schedule coming up, etc...), but good lord. getting shutout by JA Happ and friends really really takes the wind out of you. yuck.

last years team wasn't always fun to watch. they often won because the other team made more mistakes, not because the brewers were dominant. so far this year the brewers are just getting outplayed almost every night and they are the team that fails more often. i guess the low point of the season for me was when they reupped inspector clouseau the gm and inspector clouseau the manager. losing isn't as bad as no faith in the management that they have a path to rebuild this disaster.

Brooks Conrad has a .050 OBP. I didn't think an OBP could get that low.

Question is, what scrub pitcher walked him? :laughing

We got outscored 12-3 in a two game "series" by a team that was 15-21 coming in.

Ouch.

Overreact much? With Gamel, Gonzalez, and a normal Weeks and Ramirez this is a playoff team. The injuries combined with a lack of depth combined with under-performing all-star caliber players has made for some ugly games recently, but it's not nearly as bad as what everybody is making it out to be right now. I know there was a lot of complaints about the bench even before the slow start, and those complaints are somewhat justified, but you can only do so much as a small market team. If there are going to be weak points on the roster, I want them to be on the bench. It just so happened that injuries have turned the bench into the starting lineup and made the bench that much worse. It'll get better.

Hearing Rock tell us about how there's not much you can do other than "tip your cap" to JA Happ is just salt in the wound.

I'm fairly confident that 65 year old Nolan Ryan could come in and pitch a shutout against this team. We seem to be "tipping our caps" a lot to opposing starting pitchers.

I agree mostly. I think Melvin could have done better than fill the bench with a bunch of no-hit lefties but that is a pretty minor criticism. The fact is that both Vegas and most major projection systems saw the Brewers as having a good chance for the playoffs. You can argue that a team with $100 mil payroll should be in that position but they but Melvin at least did it. For that reason, hard to heap too much criticism on Melvin, IMO.

I don't like RR at all but I don't like most managers so whether they kept him or not long term is kind of irrelevant. They would just replace him with another RR anyway.

The Brewers need 2 of 3, bare minimum this weekend- but would anyone be surprised if the Crew lost 2 of 3 or were even swept by the lowly Twins? I wouldn't considering how the Brewers have looked lately and how they have played the Twins over the past several years. The Twin bats have also woken up over the past few days.

I agree with a lot of this, but I think we play the "small market team" card too often. We have a $100M+ payroll. That is top 10 in MLB. There are plenty of teams doing more with less money.

Ya the team is really bad right now but not much DM could have done. Just about any team out there would be in this much trouble if they had to deal with what this team has so far. I still have faith they can turn it around and be ok, but playoffs seem gone. Of course you never know.

My major excitement has come from thinking about trading away some guys and shooting for a couple years down the road.........
